Apparently the Hollywood sign wasn’t attracting enough attention.
A performance artist dressed as a dominatrix climbed up to the Los Angeles landmark Friday and strapped a nearly naked man to it.
And no, that’s not even the weirdest part. Sabine Tautou told TMZ that she spent three weeks planning the stunt, which she calls “Submission.”

Video from the scene shows Tautou dressed in black while a man wearing little more than underwear is bound against one of the giant white letters. The man, whom Tautou described as her “sub,” was reportedly wrapped in material before being secured to the sign.
So why?
According to Tautou, the performance was supposed to symbolize Hollywood itself. She described the bound man as representing artists who surrender themselves to the entertainment industry — submitting to the system in hopes of becoming famous.

The Hollywood sign was apparently chosen to represent the industry’s power over them. There was, however, one audience Tautou hadn’t entirely planned for.
The cops.
Los Angeles police arrived before she could complete the performance. Tautou said officers ordered her and her crew down from the sign, detained her and ultimately cited her for trespassing.
Nobody was injured. And despite all that planning, Tautou told TMZ she wasn’t able to finish the stunt exactly as intended.
She nevertheless appears to have accomplished at least one traditional Hollywood objective. Everybody is talking about it.
In old Hollywood, they just called that an audition.
