TOTAL BS!

New York City has launched a new public-relations campaign highlighting the accomplishments of Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s first year in office.
The campaign, titled “New York: Still Here,” is designed to counter what City Hall says were exaggerated predictions about what would happen under the democratic socialist mayor.
The first advertisement gets directly to the point.
“ONE YEAR LATER,” it reads. “STILL NO SHARIA LAW.”
City officials reportedly borrowed the idea from Fox News contributor Jessica Tarlov, who recently celebrated Mamdani’s New York by noting that Republicans had warned about Sharia law but residents instead got “line dancing in Bryant Park and free opera tickets.”
City Hall immediately recognized a slogan when it saw one.
A second advertisement features smiling New Yorkers dancing beneath the words: “COME FOR THE SOCIALISM. STAY FOR THE LINE DANCING.”
Other accomplishments highlighted in the campaign include free opera tickets, continued availability of bagels and confirmation that the Statue of Liberty remains in approximately the same location.
Officials briefly considered including the fact that the New York Stock Exchange is still operating. That was rejected as showing off.
The city’s tourism department is now reportedly considering a national campaign aimed at skeptical visitors.
Its proposed slogan: “Visit New York. We promise it’s not nearly as socialist as your brother-in-law says.”
TOTAL BS is SATIRE. The news is real. The TOTAL BS is intentional.
