BS BULLETIN:
- DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin told Laura Ingraham he consulted ChatGPT about how red states become blue.
- He connected the answer to his accusation that Democrats use immigration to change the electorate.
- The exchange also covered estimates of the illegal immigrant population and national security.
DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin brought an unusual research assistant into Monday night’s immigration discussion on The Ingraham Angle: ChatGPT.
Mullin accused Democrats of using immigration to change the country’s demographics and move its politics toward socialism. He said that shortly before the interview, he had asked the chatbot how a Republican state could become Democratic.
According to Mullin, its first answer was: “You must change the voting demographics.”
He then connected that response directly to his accusation against Democrats: “So, they’re telling us what they are doing here.”
The discussion began with Ingraham asking how many illegal immigrants were living in the United States. She suggested the total could reach 50 million to 60 million and asked Mullin for his estimate.
Mullin said roughly 20 million had arrived during the Biden years, potentially as many as 23 million. Counting people who had been in the country since earlier administrations, he said, could bring the total to 50 million.
Mullin’s broader argument was that Democrats understand the political consequences of changing the population and are pursuing those changes deliberately. His ChatGPT question, he explained, was intended to illustrate the connection between demographics and turning red states blue. Ingraham responded with a brief acknowledgment before he continued.
The secretary also tied immigration enforcement to national security. He argued that the government must know who is inside the country and said the Trump administration had arrested 2,210 people he described as known terrorists. He distinguished that description from people merely appearing on a terrorist watch list and said they had entered during the Biden administration.
MY QUICK TAKE:
Mullin went straight to the question Democrats would rather bury beneath another lecture about compassion: what happens politically when you change the population?
His argument was plain. Democrats want a different electorate, and immigration is part of their strategy. Viewers can judge that argument, but at least he put it on the table.
And there’s something delicious about a cabinet secretary bringing ChatGPT into the discussion. Washington has armies of consultants charging fortunes to explain political strategy. Mullin says he asked his phone.
