‘Sit this one out!’: Hillary Clinton calls Trump’s execution plan ‘barbaric’ — and X users have a long memory

by

BS BULLETIN:

  • Hillary Clinton denounced the Pentagon’s plan to livestream the execution of convicted Fort Hood mass murderer Nidal Hasan.

  • Her X post sparked responses invoking the 2012 Benghazi attack and her widely circulated remarks about Muammar Gaddafi’s death.

  • The December 3 execution remains scheduled, but the decision to broadcast it has also drawn criticism from Republicans, religious leaders and military justice experts.

Hillary Clinton has weighed in on the Pentagon’s plan to livestream the execution of Fort Hood mass murderer Nidal Hasan. And critics on X wasted little time revisiting some of the more controversial moments of her tenure as secretary of state.

Clinton shared a New York Times report Friday about the planned December 3 firing-squad execution, writing:

“A barbaric idea, beneath our dignity as a country. Push back on this.”

Hasan, a former Army psychiatrist, was convicted of murdering 13 people and attempting to murder 32 others during his 2009 rampage at Fort Hood, Texas.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth says the execution should be publicly broadcast to demonstrate the consequences of such crimes.

Juanita Broaddrick accused Clinton of hypocrisy over the 2012 Benghazi attack, while conservative commentator Gunther Eagleman invoked the deaths of four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens.

“Maybe you should sit this one out,” Eagleman wrote.

Jack Posobiec reached further back, recalling Clinton’s response to the death of Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.

Clinton famously joked during a CBS interview:

“We came, we saw, he died.”

She laughed after making the remark, which followed Gaddafi’s violent death at the hands of Libyan fighters.

Posobiec cited that episode in challenging her objection to a public execution.

Other critics, including former Trump administration official Carl Higbie, repeated an allegation that Clinton had once suggested a drone strike against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. That claim has circulated for years but has not been independently substantiated.

The Benghazi accusations likewise reflect critics’ interpretations of Clinton’s responsibility, not established findings that she deliberately withheld assistance.

Still, the reaction quickly became a referendum on Clinton’s own record rather than simply the Pentagon’s decision.

The controversy extends well beyond partisan social media.

Republican Sen. Thom Tillis has condemned the planned livestream, while Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy compared it to the public executions staged by ISIS.

Catholic leaders and United Nations human rights officials have also raised objections.

Vice President JD Vance has said he does not intend to watch the broadcast.

For now, the Pentagon maintains that Hasan’s execution will be livestreamed. Whether legal challenges or further objections alter that plan remains uncertain.
