‘We have guns too’: Indiana Democrat’s anti-MAGA tirade goes viral, takes a disturbing turn

THE DAILY BS: HOW MUCH CAN YOU HANDLE?

SPARE ME THE BS (I’ve got things to do).

  • Indiana Democrat Jaime West said she would “fire all Republicans” during a televised candidate forum, then attacked MAGA supporters as racist and unintelligent.
  • West alleged that a sheriff’s nephew threatened to kill her and ended her remarks with the warning: “We have guns too.”
  • Fayette County Sheriff Zac Jones responded that he has five nieces and no nephews. West did not identify which sheriff she was accusing.

LAY IT ON ME (I’ve got time).

An Indiana Democrat running for county council has delivered a candidate-forum performance that went from attacking Republicans to warning about guns — and somehow ended with the local sheriff explaining his family tree.

Jaime West, a Democratic candidate for Fayette County Council, was asked what unpopular decision she would make if elected.

Her answer was not exactly an invitation to bipartisan cooperation.

“Fire all Republicans.”

West continued by criticizing Republicans and Trump supporters, saying she disliked dealing with them and accusing some MAGA voters of racism and ignorance.

She also blamed Trump supporters for immigration-enforcement actions she opposed.

West acknowledged that there were some good Republicans, but she made clear that she had little patience for the MAGA wing of the party.

Then came a more serious accusation.

West claimed that a sheriff’s nephew had threatened to kill her.

As the moderator wrapped up the forum and asked for her final message to voters, West delivered four words that quickly traveled far beyond Fayette County.

“We have guns too.”

The clip spread across social media, where conservative commentators reacted with disbelief.

Chaya Raichik, who runs the Libs of TikTok account, told followers: “This is not a skit.”

Attorney and commentator Viva Frei also questioned the bizarre presentation. Some viewers speculated about West’s condition during the forum, but no verified evidence establishes that she was intoxicated or impaired.

Then Fox News contacted Fayette County Sheriff Zac Jones about West’s allegation involving a sheriff’s nephew.

Jones said he didn’t know the candidate and had no idea what she was talking about.

His explanation was devastatingly simple: “I have 5 nieces and 0 nephews.”

He also criticized the local Democratic Party’s choice of candidate.

There is one necessary qualification. West did not identify the sheriff whose relative she was accusing. Jones’ statement does not independently establish whether someone threatened her or whom she meant.

Fox News reported that West could not immediately be reached for comment.

West is running against Republican Gary Keener Jr. for the Fayette County Council seat.

Local candidate forums are supposed to help voters understand what people would do in office.

This one certainly gave voters something to consider: a promise to fire Republicans, a warning about guns and a sheriff who suddenly had to clarify the number of nephews in his family.
