Trump wants to pay fraud hunters, Elizabeth Warren goes after Elon, and Zelenskyy gives an unexpected answer

What if you could get paid for exposing people who are stealing taxpayer money? President Trump rolled out a proposal to reward fraud whistleblowers, and the discussion in the Oval Office got interesting when a reporter pointed out that an existing federal law already pays some whistleblowers considerably more.

Nick Shirley was there, too. The young independent journalist who helped put Minnesota’s alleged fraud problems in the spotlight had a few things to say about the media’s response to his reporting. And Stephen Miller made an explosive allegation about where some of that taxpayer money ultimately winds up. It reminded me of something Rush Limbaugh was talking about more than 20 years ago.

Then there’s Elizabeth Warren, who is furious about the possibility that Elon Musk could influence what happens to Ukraine’s military communications. I had a question for the senator: What exactly have you created, Lizzie?

Speaking of Ukraine, President Zelenskyy gave Brian Kilmeade a surprisingly direct answer about whether he’d accept freezing the war along the current battle lines. That exchange deserves attention.

We also had a $25 billion fight involving Meta, the Knicks celebrating a championship banner and then losing, and a correction from Princess Diana about what we really used to call the Oval Office during the Clinton years. Believe me, it wasn’t suitable for a White House tour.

And for our musical journey, a little Toto, Chicago, and the remarkable guitar work of Steve Lukather.

That’s Wednesday’s Rush Hour. There’s plenty here you won’t get from a thirty-second news clip.

And don’t miss my latest op-ed, inspired by Wednesday’s discussion about government fraud, the people who expose it, and what happens when Washington starts treating your tax dollars like somebody else’s money: Washington has a fraud problem. Trump wants to pay people to expose it.

Rush Hour airs Monday through Friday and moves quickly through the day’s hottest political stories, breaking developments and media absurdities. It is the fastest hour in American media because there is always more happening than the legacy media has time—or desire—to explain.
