THE DAILY BS: HOW MUCH CAN YOU HANDLE?

SPARE ME THE BS (I’ve got things to do).
- Ilhan Omar rejected the longstanding allegation that she married her brother during an interview with MS NOW’s Chris Hayes.
- Her answer included “Not to my knowledge,” a qualifier that gave the interview its most memorable moment.
- The appearance followed a federal search of her Washington home; Omar denies wrongdoing.
LAY IT ON ME (I’ve got time).
Ilhan Omar went on television to reject an allegation she has battled for years. She left viewers with a phrase that sounds better suited to a congressional hearing than a question about the family tree.
“Not to my knowledge.”
BREAKING: ILHAN OMAR ASKED IF SHE MARRIED HER BROTHER
OMAR: “NOT TO MY KNOWLEDGE” 😨 https://t.co/wsrnsKU7O5

The Minnesota Democrat was speaking with MS NOW’s Chris Hayes after federal agents searched her Washington home. Hayes raised the allegation that former husband Ahmed Nur Said Elmi was her brother.
Omar blamed the story’s origins on a Somali blog and said people promoting it had made claims about introductions she never made. She called that account “insane.” The allegation has not been publicly established.
Hayes pressed her about whether there was any relationship or some underlying explanation behind the story. Her qualified answer promptly became the part of the interview nobody needed a research assistant to locate.
Family relationships: apparently now subject to further review.
The conversation also turned to the government’s investigation into her immigration history. Hayes asked about questions involving representations her father made during the naturalization process.
Omar argued that investigators were pursuing paperwork the government already possessed and noted that her father is deceased.
She has characterized the investigations as politically motivated and denied wrongdoing. Discussing the search, Omar said agents took old phones and notebooks among the items removed from her residence.
She also said she would not return to that home because of security concerns.
