Trump praises Nicki Minaj’s ‘beautiful ass’ at Michigan rally: ‘It’s hard to miss’

THE DAILY BS: HOW MUCH CAN YOU HANDLE?

SPARE ME THE BS (I’ve got things to do).

  • President Trump surprised a Michigan rally crowd Sunday by praising rapper Nicki Minaj’s backside while explaining his earlier remarks about Ohio Sen. Jon Husted.
  • Trump called Minaj’s appearance “hard to miss” and asked her to stand, prompting cheers from the audience.
  • Minaj, who traveled aboard Air Force One, later pledged to support Trump “forever and ever” and urged voters to support Michigan Republicans.

LAY IT ON ME (I’ve got time).

Donald Trump went to Michigan Sunday to help elect Republicans. Somewhere along the way, the conversation turned to backsides.

Again.

This time, however, the president found himself discussing one belonging to a world-famous rapper.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Port Huron for Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers and gubernatorial candidate John James, Trump was revisiting the controversy surrounding his unusually detailed assessment of Ohio Sen. Jon Husted’s athletic physique.

The president had previously explained that Husted, a former college football player, possessed an impressive physical build. Unfortunately for everyone trying to concentrate on election issues, that assessment had included Husted’s rear end.

Trump was still defending himself Sunday.

“I looked at his ass, and I’ve never done that with a man before,” he told the crowd.

Then came a clarification that probably wasn’t included in the prepared remarks.

“Off the record, women, yes, men, no, okay?”

And suddenly he remembered somebody else.

“By the way, I looked at one hell of a beautiful ass before — Nicki Minaj.”

The crowd erupted.

“That’s hard to miss,” Trump added, inviting Minaj to stand up and acknowledge the audience.

The rapper obliged, rising from her seat to cheers while the president returned, eventually, to his original story.

“I hope Nicki wasn’t insulted, but we love Nicki,” Trump said.

Now, there are campaign endorsements, and then there is the president of the United States interrupting an election speech to offer an unscheduled review of your anatomy.

Minaj, however, appeared delighted to be part of the festivities.

The rapper had accompanied Trump to Michigan aboard Air Force One, where she shared video of herself enjoying the presidential aircraft in a Gucci outfit.

She later joined Trump onstage and delivered an enthusiastic endorsement that went well beyond ordinary celebrity campaign support.

“President Trump, it is an honor to stand with you every single time,” Minaj told the president.

“And I will continue to support you forever and ever. If you run again, I will support you again.”

That’s certainly loyalty. The Constitution’s 22nd Amendment, which bars another elected presidential term for Trump, might have a word about the last part.

Minaj also spoke about children’s exposure to gender-transition issues, urging adults to leave children out of those controversies. She encouraged voters to support Republican candidates in Michigan.

Trump introduced her as the “queen of rap” and joked that he disliked being overshadowed by such a popular performer.

He also offered his own explanation of why people admire Minaj.

“She is a very, very special person. She gets it.”

The surprise pairing illustrates just how thoroughly Minaj has embraced the president. Once known primarily for chart-topping hits and extravagant performances, she’s become an increasingly visible political supporter, even appearing in initiatives associated with Trump’s administration.

And Trump clearly enjoys the partnership.

At one point, he even joked that he would compliment Mike Rogers’ physique if doing so guaranteed the Republican a victory.

Rogers might want to settle for the endorsement.

The rally was intended to help Republicans close out a difficult Senate and gubernatorial campaign in Michigan. It certainly generated headlines.

Whether voters remember the candidates’ policy proposals or the president’s extended discussion of Husted and Minaj may depend on which video clip they saw first.
