THE DAILY BS: HOW MUCH CAN YOU HANDLE?

SPARE ME THE BS (I’ve got things to do)
- Dave Smith accused Turning Point USA of failing to defend Thomas Massie against Trump.
- The confrontation expanded into a fight over Charlie Kirk’s opposition to the Iran war.
- Turning Point representatives fired back, insisting they had opposed the war and supported Massie.
LAY IT ON ME (I’ve got time)
Republicans were watching their party get hammered on Election Night, but over on Piers Morgan Uncensored, the fighting was happening inside the conservative movement itself.
And Charlie Kirk’s legacy was right in the middle of it.
Libertarian comedian and commentator Dave Smith confronted a group of Turning Point USA personalities, demanding to know why the organization hadn’t done more to defend Kentucky Republican Thomas Massie against President Trump.
Smith described Massie as Charlie Kirk’s favorite congressman and accused Turning Point of failing to stand up for him when Trump backed a successful primary challenge.
The accusation struck a nerve.
Turning Point’s Andrew Kolvet, Blake Neff, Jack Posobiec and Cliff Maloney were participating remotely when Smith and fellow guest Omar Baddar challenged their handling of two contentious issues: Massie’s defeat and the Iran war.
Baddar argued that Kirk had privately opposed military action against Iran and questioned why Turning Point hadn’t been more forceful in publicly challenging the administration.
Blake Neff wasn’t having it.
“This is bullcrap!” he fired back.
Dave Smith confronts the Turning Point USA crew on why they never lifted a finger to defend Thomas Massie, even though he was one of Charlie Kirk’s favorite congressmen.
SMITH: “I know that Charlie’s favorite congressman was Thomas Massie.”
“So when he was unseated by the lobby for Israel, representing this other wing that you’re talking about, that I guess Turning Point and Charlie didn’t represent, why didn’t you guys lift a finger to defend him?”
“Why didn’t the biggest youth outreach Republican organization in the country say anything in the name of Charlie Kirk about his favorite congressman?”

Neff insisted Turning Point personalities had warned against starting the war, questioned the administration’s public explanation and predicted political trouble if the fighting dragged on.
But he also explained why they hadn’t publicly abandoned Trump.
“Because Charlie would never crash out and disavow the president.”
And there it was: the central disagreement.
Was Charlie Kirk’s legacy about standing firmly behind Trump even when disagreeing with him? Or did honoring Kirk require openly opposing decisions that conservatives believed violated his principles?
Kolvet acknowledged that Kirk had privately lobbied against military strikes on Iran. But he argued that Kirk’s practice was to challenge Trump behind the scenes while continuing to support him publicly.
Kolvet also said Turning Point figures had privately lobbied against the war.
Then the argument returned to Massie.
Cliff Maloney pushed back against Smith’s claim that the congressman had been abandoned, saying he personally worked to help Massie survive his primary challenge and that millions had been spent on his behalf.
Smith remained unconvinced.
Things grew even more heated when he accused Posobiec of overselling Trump’s prospects for achieving a successful outcome in Iran.
Posobiec responded that Smith was twisting his earlier statements.
Soon, several guests were talking over one another.
Morgan finally stepped in, joking that he wanted to announce a peace agreement among his guests.
That may have been the most optimistic peace proposal of the evening.
But underneath the shouting was a serious dispute that won’t disappear when the cameras switch off.
With Republicans reeling from Tuesday’s defeats, conservative activists are arguing about whether loyalty to Trump should take precedence over publicly challenging his decisions.
And they’re using Charlie Kirk’s memory to make competing arguments.
Turning Point says it can disagree with the president without abandoning him.
Smith argues that the movement should have done more to protect a congressman whose positions Kirk admired.
Those are different interpretations of political loyalty, and Tuesday’s confrontation showed just how emotional the disagreement has become.
