Person of interest identified in Maine mass shooting

A person of interest has been identified in the mass shooting at multiple locations in Lewiston, Maine, Wednesday, according to the Lewiston Police Department.

The Lewiston Police Department posted an alert on Facebook Wednesday saying that law enforcement were looking for a person of interest who was identified as Robert Card for the killings at multiple locations in the Lewiston area. The Lewiston Police Department said it was investigating the killings that took place at a bar and a bowling alley, according to WGME.

There is an active shooter in Lewiston. We ask people to shelter in place. Please stay inside your home with the doors locked. Law enforcement is currently investigating at multiple locations. “Law enforcement in Androscoggin County are investigating two active shooter events,” the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook. “We are encouraging all businesses to lock down and or close while we investigate. The suspect is still at large.”

The Lewiston Police Department posted a photo of one suspected shooter and a vehicle on Facebook.

“Law Enforcement is attempting to locate Robert Card 4/4/1983, as a person of interest regarding the mass shooting at Schemengees Bar and Sparetime Recreation this evening,” the Lewiston Police Department posted on Facebook. “CARD should be considered armed and dangerous. Please contact law enforcement if you are aware of his whereabouts.”

“The FBI Boston Division continues to coordinate with our local, state and federal law enforcement partners in Maine and we stand ready to assist with any available resources they need, including evidence response, investigative and tactical support, as well as victim assistance,” the FBI told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “We continue to urge the public to remain vigilant and report any and all suspicious activity and/or individuals to law enforcement immediately. As this situation is still very fluid, we have no further comment at this time and will refer you to the Maine State Police.”

Multiple media outlets are reporting that at least 16 people have been killed and dozens more injured.
