A previously unaired audio recording of former President Donald Trump calling alleged comments he made “bullsh-t” was played by MSNBC.
The audio clip came from ABC News’s Jonathan Karl who had recounted the conversation with Trump in his book, “Betrayal.” On Monday, it was aired for the first time on MSNBC’s “Inside with Jen Psaki.”
“You may not remember this piece of reporting back from November of 2021,” host Jen Psaki began, citing Karl’s book to explain how “[O]n his last day in office shortly after boarding Air Force One, Donald Trump spoke with Republican Party chair Ronna McDaniel and delivered some pretty uncomfortable news.”
“He told McDaniel he was leaving the GOP and creating his own political party, threatening to destroy the Republican Party altogether,” the former Biden press secretary continued.
The audio clip was then played, with Karl heard asking Trump, “When you got on the plane, you got a call from Ronald McDaniel. Do you recall? Do you recall that phone conversation?”
“No,” the former president responded.
“Because you, you had– ” Karl said before Trump interjected, “What did she say?”
“What did she say?” he asked again as Karl attempted to respond.
“That you told her you were gonna leave the Republican Party,” the correspondent recounted.
“This is the sickest thing I’ve ever heard. I never said any such thing. You mean, I was gonna form another party or something?” Trump asked as Karl confirmed, “Yes, yes.”
“Oh, that’s bullsh*t, ok? Never happened,” the former president concluded.
