The repercussions from former President Donald Trump’s conviction in New York continue as he now faces losing his license to carry a gun.
A senior police official told CNN that the New York City Police Department is reportedly going to revoke Trump’s gun license due to his being convicted last month of 34 felonies in the hush-money show trial.
“Trump’s New York concealed carry license was quietly suspended on April 1, 2023, following his indictment on criminal charges in New York, the official said,” CNN reported. “Two of the three pistols he was licensed to carry were turned over to the NYPD on March 31, 2023, and a third gun listed on Trump’s license ‘was lawfully moved to Florida,’ the person added.”
If the presumptive Republican nominee still possesses the third weapon in Florida, he could potentially be in violation of multiple state and federal laws as the Gun Control Act of 1968 mandates that anyone convicted of a felony cannot own or possess a firearm or ammunition.
The senior police official told CNN that NYPD’s Legal Bureau will complete the investigation “that will likely lead to revocation of his license”. However, Trump, who has full-time US Secret Service protection, reportedly may still seek a hearing to challenge the revocation.
“Trump has had a license from the NYPD to carry a concealed firearm for more than a decade, according to multiple law enforcement sources, but because Trump’s application came with a request for confidentiality, they are exempt from public records requests, according to the NYPD’s guidelines and New York state law,” CNN noted.
The outlet added that last year’s suspension of Trump’s concealed carry license and now the pending revocation of his license “suggests that he maintained his license the entire time of his presidency and after” being charged with multiple felonies in March 2023.

It’s going to sting even more when they have to give it back to him once the convictions are overturned on appeal.

They should let the appeal process play out first.
