Self-labeled ‘knucklehead’ Walz pretended to have deep thoughts on pizza after debate

by

Viewers of the first vice presidential debate of 2024 agreed that Gov. Tim Walz got one fact totally right: He’s a “knucklehead.”

The Minnesota Democrat was asked by CBS moderators to address his claims about traveling to China, notably his trip to Tiananmen Square, when he seemed to offer up a word salad response that would make his running mate, Vice President Kamala Harris proud.

Walz began by giving his “life story” and trying to explain why he traveled to China as a teacher. He finally came around to addressing the question from the moderator, CBS News anchor Margaret Brennan.

“I’ve tried to do the best I can, but I’ve not been perfect and I’m a knucklehead at times,” Walz said, later adding that he tends to “get caught up in the rhetoric.”

The Democrat vice presidential nominee seemed to do his best to ignore reporters asking him about his claims while admiring pizzas.

But his unpreparedness as well as meandering response to the question about China drew strong reactions on social media where X users ran away with his “knucklehead” remark.
