MSNBC legal analyst Joyce Vance defended President Joe Biden pardoning his son Hunter Biden on Sunday, claiming Monday that criticism of the move stems solely from their relationship.
The pardon followed months of the president claiming he would not intervene following a Delaware jury convicting Hunter Biden of knowingly possessing a gun while being addicted to drugs and making false statements on a purchase document. Vance, on “Morning Joe,” argued the pardon was justified, citing a “feeling” that Hunter Biden would not have faced indictments if he were not the president’s son.

“Look, the reality here is if this was anyone other than Joe Biden’s son, no one would object to a pardon on these facts. The pardon process is meant to do mercy, it’s meant to do justice. It’s often used for people, most frequently used for people who are guilty of the crimes that they’ve committed, where there are extenuating factors at work,” Vance said. “And as I say, if this was not Joe Biden’s son, no one would object. But we are clearly here because this is Joe Biden’s son.”
“While judges may not have seen fit to dismiss the cases under high legal standards for selective and vindictive prosecution, there’s a clear feeling here these cases would not have been indicted if anyone other than Joe Biden’s son was involved in the conduct,” she continued. “And on that basis, you can understand how this pardon makes sense under the circumstances.”
Vance’s remarks echoed the president’s statement announcing the pardon, which included an assertion that his son was unfairly targeted in the judicial process due to their relationship.
“No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter’s cases can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son — and that is wrong,” the president wrote. “There has been an effort to break Hunter — who has been five and a half years sober, even in the face of unrelenting attacks and selective prosecution. In trying to break Hunter, they’ve tried to break me — and there’s no reason to believe it will stop here. Enough is enough.”
Hunter Biden initially intended to plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax charges and enter a diversion agreement for the felony gun charge in order to evade incarceration. However, the agreement disintegrated in July following District Court Judge Maryellen Noreika expressing concern regarding an immunity provision included in the agreement.
Radio host Charlamagne Tha God on Monday refuted the president’s claim that his son faced unjustified prosecution.
“Hunter was singled out because he broke the law. That’s number one,” Charlamagne said. “He was singled out because he had an illegal gun and tax evasion charges, not because he was the president’s son.”

I object even more since it is Joe’s son we are speaking about!! A criminal President shouldn’t break this promise to Americans but, damn it , he did!!! So Joe gets away with his life long criminal activities because he has dementia and Hunter gets away with his life long criminal activities because of Dad!!! But, once again, Joe lied to the American people – another Democrat who is completely untrustworthy!!! That seems to be a pattern with Democrats!!!
