Liz Cheney spews warning for any lawyer who would dare investigate the J6 committee

by

Former Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney was roasted over her veiled threat to any lawyers who would try to investigate her and other members of the Jan. 6 Committee.

The so-called Republican with a deep-seated hatred of President-elect Donald Trump reacted to his remarks calling for the former committee members to be jailed over their sham investigation. But her sputtering about his “assault” on the nation and her warning that attorneys would be sanctioned earned her mockery and rebuke on social media.

“Cheney did something that’s inexcusable, along with Thompson and the people on the un-select committee of political thugs and, you know, creeps,” Trump said in a “Meet the Press” interview. “They deleted and destroyed all evidence.”

“And Cheney was behind it. And so was Bennie Thompson and everybody on that committee,” he continued. “For what they did, honestly, they should go to jail.”

The former lawmaker who became Vice President Kamala Harris’s sidekick in her failed presidential campaign fired back in a statement saying Trump’s “suggestion that members of Congress who later investigated his illegal and unconstitutional actions should be jailed is a continuation of his assault on the rule of law and the foundations of our republic.”

She called his claims about the committee destroying evidence “ridiculous and false” before seeming to threaten anyone pursuing legal action.

“There is no conceivably appropriate factual or constitutional basis for what Donald Trump is suggesting – a Justice Department investigation of the work of a congressional committee – and any lawyer who attempts to pursue that course would quickly find themselves engaged in sanctionable conduct,” Cheney said.

Cheney’s attack comes amid rumors of President Joe Biden doling out “preemptive pardons” to Trump’s critics and foes before he leaves office. AMong those who could be on the receiving end of such handouts would be Cheney and California Sen.-elect Adam Schiff.

Attorneys and other X users reacting to Cheney’s remarks gave her a solid reality check, and effectively told her to “bring it.”

“Oh really,” posted Harmeet Dhillon, lawyer and former vice chairwoman of the California Republican Party. Dhillon was just nominated by Trump to serve as the assistant attorney general for civil rights in the Justice Department.
