Jill Biden insists with a snicker that her ‘joy’ quip isn’t a mean girl troll of Kamala – wink, wink

by

First lady Jill Biden sparked laughter after an awkward moment when she seemed to be trolling Vice President Kamala Harris.

During remarks at the White House Conference on Women’s Health Research event on Wednesday, Biden tried to encourage a feeling of “joy” amidst the holiday season and “during this time.”

But after a few laughs began to trickle through the audience, the first lady seemed to catch on and offered a snarky quip in response.

“The theme this year is peace and light. So I hope that you all feel that sense of peace and light,” she said after mentioning the White House holiday decorations.

“Just for a moment when you leave here today, when you feel — I don’t know,” she added, pausing as she tried to find the right word.

“A sense of joy,” she resumed. “Because I think we all need to feel joy now during this time of the season. … Just during this time.”

The light bulb seemed to go off as Biden realized she was using one of the campaign buzzwords used by Harris and her failed presidential bid.

“OK, you’re all reading into that,” she laughed, drawing more reaction from the audience.

The moment follows speculation after the first lady’s friendly encounter with President-elect Donald Trump at the reopening of Notre Dame in France.

And it followed what many saw as an awkward moment this week when it appeared to many that President Joe Biden and the first lady gave Harris and her husband the cold shoulder at the Kennedy Center Honors.

Biden’s quip about “joy” on Wednesday set off another wave of jokes on social media.
