MSNBC’s Rev. Al Sharpton is calling for a boycott of companies that have turned from pushing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies on their employees.
The race activist railed against the decision by companies like Walmart, McDonald’s, and others to eliminate the initiatives as he spoke at the Metropolitan AME Church in Washington, D.C. He also took to social media to threaten that his organization, the National Action Network, would identify companies and call for boycotts.

“Why do we have DEI? We have DEI because you denied us diversity, you denied us equity, you denied us inclusion. DEI was a remedy to the racial institutionalized bigotry practice in academia and in these corporations. Now, if you want to put us back in the back of the bus, we going to do the Dr. King-Rosa Parks on you,” Sharpton said during the rally honoring Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday.
“You must have forgot who we are,” he said. “We are the ones that you took everything and we still here.”
President Donald Trump was inaugurated Monday and later signed an executive order ending DEI programs throughout the federal government.
“We want people to see the tale of two cities in one district,” Sharpton said. “On this side of town, Martin Luther King Jr. gave his life to open up America for everybody: Blacks, whites, gays, straights, it didn’t matter. We are with Dr. King.”

“NAN and its allies form a council that over the next 90 days will examine what companies have shirked on their DEl commitments, as well as their profit margins,” Sharpton’s post noted on X.. “Two companies will then be subjected this spring to a boycott by Black Americans, whom McKinsey estimates will have a collective buying power of $1.7 trillion by 2030.”
Fox News host Jesse Watters jabbed Sharpton and his planned boycotts during his “Primetime” show, emphasizing that “DEI’s days are done” after the ‘reverend’ declared that Trump “can’t make us spend money on companies that will not” continue DEI policies.

Watters blasted Sharpton for wanting “black people to drop out of the economy.”
“Sharpton couldn’t even get black Americans to put Kamala (Harris) in the White House, You think he’s going to get them to stop going to (McDonald’s)?”
