‘Not my job’: Chicago mayor declares it’s Homan’s duty to take criminal illegals off his streets, not his

by

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson dismissed reporters’ concerns about keeping residents safe as ICE began arresting criminal illegal aliens

The Democrat mayor did not join “border czar” Tom Homan as he oversaw the arrests in the Windy City, but he was quick to shrug off responsibility for monitoring an influx of illegal migrants in the city who have committed additional crimes.

“The people of Chicago tell me that your answers are nothing more than double-talk, word salad, pres-scripted PR statements,” a reporter confronted the mayor during a press conference this week.

“Tom Homan showed up in Chicago and within 24 hours, found a convicted sex offender who has been living in our city since 2009, flouting the sex offender registry,” the reporter continued.

“If he can do this, why can’t you?” he asked the Democrat.

“Because that’s their job” Johnson responded. “That is their job. The federal government has a responsibility to make sure that individuals who are undocumented who have been charged with, who have been convicted of a crime, it is the federal government’s responsibility to do their art and uphold the law.”

“Our local police department along with our public health department, along with our other sister agencies are working to build a better, stronger, safer Chicago,” Johnson continued. “And as we’ve stated repeatedly, those critical investments, you continue to see the results of those investments as violent crime continues to fall in Chicago.”

The mayor’s tone-deaf remarks sparked widespread backlash on social media where X users called him and his party out for creating the mess that he dumped on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
