Former White Stripes frontman Jack White, whose music career peaked nearly two decades ago, launched a bitter and profanity-laced tirade on Instagram this week, attacking President Donald Trump and his administration after being called out for mocking the updated decor of the Oval Office.
The feud began when White posted a photo of the newly redecorated White House, referring to President Trump’s taste as “disgusting,” describing the updated room as a “vulgar, gold-leafed and gaudy, professional wrestler’s dressing room.” He sarcastically added, “Can’t wait for the UFC match on the front lawn too,” referencing Trump’s plan to host a UFC fight outside the White House in celebration of America’s 250th birthday.
But it didn’t take long for the Trump team to fire back. White House communications director Steven Cheung responded to the aging rocker’s criticism with blunt force. “Jack White is a washed-up, has-been loser posting drivel on social media because he clearly has ample time on his hands due to his stalled career,” Cheung told The Daily Beast on Tuesday. He went on to accuse White of “masquerading as a real artist,” saying he “fails to appreciate, and quite frankly disrespects, the splendor and significance of the Oval Office inside of ‘The People’s House.’”
White, clearly triggered by Cheung’s remarks, fired off a two-page rant on Instagram Wednesday, directing his fury at both Trump and his staff. “No intelligent person can defend this low life fascist,” White wrote. “This bankrupter of casinos. This failed seller of Trump Steaks, Trump Vodka, Trump Water, etc.” He claimed that Trump and his “goon squad” have “failed upwards for decades” and “fleeced the American people over and over.”
The Grammy-winning musician, now more known for his political outbursts than hit songs, accused Trump of pretending to be “a human being,” a Christian, and a person with empathy. “He’s masquerading as a leader,” White continued. “His staff of professional liar toadies like Steven Cheung and Karoline Leavitt have been covering up and masking his fascism as patriotism and fomenting hatred and division in this country on a daily basis.”
White concluded his rant by drawing a hyperbolic comparison to Nazi Germany. “I’m not going to be like one of the silent minority of 1930s Germany,” he wrote. “This man is a danger to not just America but the entire world… he’s dismantling democracy and endangering the planet on a daily basis, and we. all. know. it.”
Cheung wasn’t having it. Speaking to Fox News Digital, he dismissed White’s meltdown: “Trump-deranged liberals like him are so predictable and easily triggered. I’m glad we live rent-free in his rotted, pea-sized brain.”
It’s no surprise White’s political rants are generating more attention than his music these days. A once-respected artist, he’s now aligning himself with a far-left Hollywood crowd that’s obsessed with demonizing Trump—while ignoring the accomplishments of his presidency, including economic growth, border enforcement, deregulation, and peace initiatives abroad.
