Rosie O’Donnell finally apologizes after calling trans shooter ‘white, Republican, MAGA person’

by

Hollywood liberal Rosie O’Donnell is back in the spotlight—and not for anything resembling comedy. In a reckless and inflammatory TikTok rant, O’Donnell falsely accused a Minneapolis school shooter of being a “white, Republican, MAGA person” and a “white supremacist,” only to later issue a public apology after the facts proved her claim to be completely baseless.

The shooting, which took place inside a Catholic church attached to Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, left two children dead. The suspect, Robin Westman—formerly known as Robert—stormed the church with a legally acquired rifle, shotgun, and pistol, opening fire on students who were peacefully praying in the pews. The attack happened around 8:30 a.m. local time on Wednesday, in a chilling echo of past tragedies like Columbine.

Yet rather than wait for the facts, O’Donnell, who has long been known for her venomous opposition to conservatives—particularly President Donald Trump—immediately took to social media to politicize the tragedy. “This was a white guy, Republican, MAGA person… white supremacist,” she declared to her TikTok followers, without citing any evidence.

Her outburst seemed less like a commentary and more like a baseless smear driven by pure hatred of Middle America. O’Donnell, who famously fled to Ireland in protest after Trump’s 2016 election victory, has used her platform to repeatedly bash conservatives and push the tired narrative that gun violence is uniquely tied to Trump supporters and NRA members.

However, the facts about the shooter blew her narrative to pieces. Westman was not a MAGA Republican or white supremacist. In fact, Westman identified as transgender and had a disturbing fixation on previous mass shootings. Perhaps most shockingly, investigators revealed that one of Westman’s weapons had the words “kill Donald Trump” scrawled across it in white lettering—alongside other anti-Semitic and racist messages.

Despite these glaring details, O’Donnell had no issue immediately tying the act of violence to Trump supporters—a group she has repeatedly vilified without justification.

After intense public backlash and widespread criticism, O’Donnell issued a rare apology on Sunday:

“I know a lot of you were very upset about the video I made before I went away for a few days. You are right, and I did not do my due diligence before I made that emotional statement,” she admitted. “I said things about the shooter that were incorrect… The truth is, I messed up and when you mess up, you fess up. I’m sorry, this is my apology video and I hope it’s enough.”

For conservatives, O’Donnell’s apology rings hollow. Her knee-jerk reaction reflects a long-standing trend in left-wing media and celebrity culture: smear first, check facts later—especially if the target is someone with a red hat or a Bible.
