FBI releases new video of assassin’s escape after killing Charlie Kirk

by

On Thursday night, the FBI released new surveillance footage in the still‑unsolved assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The video shows the person of interest leaping from a rooftop “sniper’s nest” and fleeing soon after fatally shooting Kirk. In a joint press conference, FBI agents and the Utah Department of Public Safety urged the public for help but revealed no new arrests or identified suspects.

In the grainy but chilling video taken from Utah Valley University’s campus, the alleged assassin, dressed entirely in black, is seen sprinting across the rooftop of a building. He pauses near the roof’s edge, drops to the ground, then casually walks across a parking lot toward a wooded area, discarding the firearm along the way.

Earlier images released by law enforcement showed a “college‑aged” man wearing a long‑sleeve black shirt decorated with an American flag and eagle, dark shoes (Converse‑style), a triangle‑emblazoned cap, sunglasses, and a backpack.

Authorities say the suspect left physical traces behind — including a palm print, shoe prints, forearm impressions and other smudges — which may yield DNA or other forensic matches.

Thus far, more than 7,000 public tips have poured in—making this one of the most voluminous cases for tip submissions since the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013.

A reward of up to $100,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible.

Charlie Kirk was shot in the neck during a “Prove Me Wrong” debate event as part of his American Comeback Tour. This was his first stop. He was speaking to a large crowd at Utah Valley University when the shot rang out.

Officials reiterated they have no suspect in custody as of yet. Two individuals initially detained have since been released. The public is being asked to comb through any photos or video they may have that could help authorities identify the shooter. Utah’s governor emphasized that disinformation is rampant and warned against leaping to false conclusions.

Utah is reportedly preparing charges that could include the death penalty for whoever is convicted of Kirk’s murder.
