Longtime MediaBuzz host Howard Kurtz officially ended his run on Fox News this Sunday, marking the close of a 12-year chapter in cable news.
Kurtz positioned himself as a media watchdog who wasn’t afraid to criticize either side of the aisle. But his final episode left an especially bitter taste for some right-leaning viewers, particularly after his critical remarks regarding the recently slain conservative leader, Charlie Kirk.
Kirk, a bold and unapologetic voice for constitutional conservatism, was gunned down just days before Kurtz’s final broadcast. And rather than memorialize him as a warrior for liberty, Kurtz chose to resurrect (out of context) one of Kirk’s most controversial Second Amendment remarks from two years ago.
During a panel discussion with Fox Business reporter Charlie Gasparino and Washington Examiner’s Sarah Bedford, Bedford attempted to bring balance to the narrative, saying, “The left does have a radicalization problem that has not been spoken about proportionally in the media as the extremism on the right… It is not proportionate. And in order to have an honest conversation about what led to this moment, that has to focus in part on the left.”
But Kurtz seized on that moment to issue a parting shot at Kirk, stating:
“Charlie Kirk was not a saint. He said two years ago, it’s worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so we can have the Second Amendment.”
🚨 WTF? Howard Kurtz just BACKED UP those who blame Charlie Kirk for his own kiIIing, bringing up Kirk’s stance on the 2nd Amendment as a contributing factor
“Charlie was not a Saint.”
Luckily, Fox has CANCELED Howard’s show, and this was his final episode.

Kurtz did take a moment to condemn online leftists celebrating Kirk’s death, calling them “sickos” and labeling the behavior “inhumane.” Still, for a conservative audience mourning a young patriot gunned down in cold blood, the timing and tone felt more like a lecture than a tribute.
Kurtz ignored any suggestion that the media continues to bury the radicalization problem of the left and instead seized on the “both sides” argument.
Many were outraged and relieved that Kurtz’s show has been removed from the Fox News lineup. Not a moment too soon.
