Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) is leading the charge with legislation that would bar entry to foreign nationals who adhere to Sharia law—and promptly deport those already within U.S. borders who do.
Roy, a longtime constitutional conservative and current candidate for Texas Attorney General, isn’t pulling any punches.
“America is facing an existential threat—the spread of Sharia Law,” Roy declared in a press release. “From Texas to every state in the union, instances of Sharia Law adherents have threatened the American way of life, seeking to replace our legal system and Constitution with an incompatible ideology that diminishes the rights of women, children, and individuals of different faiths.”
The proposed legislation is nothing if not direct. It would mandate that the Secretaries of State and Homeland Security, along with the U.S. Attorney General, deny any immigration benefit, visa, or admission to any individual found to adhere to Sharia law. Moreover, anyone already in the U.S. who’s found to be a Sharia adherent would have their immigration status revoked and be subject to removal.
The bill is crystal clear:
“Any alien in the United States found to be an adherent of Sharia law… shall have any immigration benefit, immigration relief, or visa revoked, be considered inadmissible or deportable, and shall be removed from the United States.”
And for those who try to game the system with falsehoods?
“Any alien who provides false statements… about the alien’s adherence to Sharia Law shall have [their] immigration benefit, immigration relief, or visa revoked,” the proposal continues. Such individuals would be deportable and barred from re-entry.
Roy pointed to Europe as a glaring cautionary tale.
“Europe should be a wakeup call to America, showing what the spread of Sharia law looks like—the erosion of the West,” he warned. “America’s immigration system must be fortified to counter the importation of Sharia adherents—the preservation of our constitutional republic and its people depend on it.”
This isn’t fear-mongering—it’s pattern recognition. Across Europe, parallel legal systems based on Sharia have undermined national law, particularly in areas related to women’s rights, child welfare, and religious freedom. The bill reflects a serious concern: the incompatibility of Sharia-based governance with core American principles.
Joining Roy in support of the bill are a number of House conservatives who aren’t afraid to say what needs saying. Original cosponsors include Reps. Randy Fine (FL), Tim Burchett (TN), and Keith Self (TX). Additional backers, as listed on Congress.gov, include Reps. Barry Moore (AL), Mary Miller (IL), Scott Perry (PA), Sheri Biggs (SC), Lauren Boebert (CO), Josh Brecheen (OK), and Andrew Clyde (GA).
In an era where the left seems more concerned with “inclusion” than preservation, this legislation reminds Americans that the Constitution is not a suggestion—and America is not a dumping ground for ideologies hostile to liberty.
Bottom line? If your belief system says women are second-class citizens and religious minorities deserve persecution, you don’t get a ticket to the land of the free. Simple as that.
