President Donald Trump turned up the heat Sunday morning, accusing Sen. Adam Schiff (D‑CA) of trampling “so many laws, and protocols,” and calling on “the necessary authorities” — including Congress — to launch an investigation into him.
The post on Truth Social didn’t hold back:
“The Ukraine Impeachment (of me!) Scam was a far bigger Illegal Hoax than Watergate. I sincerely hope the necessary authorities, including CONGRESS, are looking into this! Adam ‘Schiffty’ Schiff was sooo dishonest and corrupt. So many laws, and protocols, were violated, and just plain broken!!! President DJT.”
Trump’s demand for a probe into Schiff follows hard on the heels of two high‑profile indictments from his Justice Department: former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James.
Comey was hit with one count of making false statements and one count of obstruction of justice, tied to alleged false testimony to Congress. Department of Justice Meanwhile, James was indicted for bank fraud and making false statements to a financial institution. Times Union+1
Both cases were brought forward by U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan, newly installed in the Eastern District of Virginia after her predecessor, Erik Siebert, declined to pursue charges against James. CBS News+2The Washington Post+2
In a September 20 Truth Social post (apparently intended for Attorney General Pam Bondi), Trump laid out his frustration with the DOJ, complaining of endless talk and no action against his political foes:
“Pam: I have reviewed over 30 statements and posts saying that … ‘same old story as last time, all talk, no action. Nothing is being done. What about Comey, Adam “Shifty” Schiff, Leticia??? They’re all guilty as hell, but nothing is going to be done.’ … We can’t delay any longer, it’s killing our reputation and credibility. They impeached me twice, and indicted me (5 times!), OVER NOTHING. JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED, NOW!!! President DJT”
His post also attempted to take credit for replacing Siebert with Halligan, whom he described as “a really good lawyer” who “likes you [Bondi], a lot.”
