Lights out for naked intruder, Vietnam veteran shoots him dead; video

by

On the morning of Friday, November 7, 2025, in the 4500 block of North Tujunga Avenue in the Studio City neighborhood of Los Angeles, a shocking incident unfolded. At approximately 7:10 a.m., a man drove up to the suburban block, disrobed on the sidewalk, and began acting erratically—yelling incoherently and apparently preparing to break into a nearby residence.

The intruder gained access to a home occupied by two women. Once inside, he chased one of the women out, prompting cries for help. Nearby, the building’s landlord—a 79-year-old military veteran of the Vietnam War—heard the commotion and rushed to intervene.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, when the landlord arrived, he warned the intruder that he was armed and told him to leave. Capt. Warner Castillo of the LAPD reported that instead of retreating, the naked man body-slammed the veteran onto the concrete driveway, breaking both of the man’s legs.

With severe injuries and under grave threat, the veteran opened fire as the assailant advanced. Witnesses say he fired three shots, striking the intruder and killing him at the scene.

The neighborhood—typically quiet and suburban—was shaken by the event. A resident recalled:

“I looked over, and the naked guy was on the ground, and the older guy was on the ground, and he shot him two more times.”

The veteran was transported to hospital and underwent successful surgery. Authorities say he remains in serious condition, and it is not yet clear whether he will recover fully without long-term disability.

Many neighbors have weighed in, calling the veteran a hero for intervening when innocent residents were under threat. One neighbor, Betsy Weiss, told CBS News:

“I think it’s a textbook example of self-defense and I really, really hope he does not face charges.”

Whether the veteran will face charges rests with the Nathan J. Hochman, Los Angeles County’s District Attorney. The LAPD is investigating the case as a possible residential burglary and self-defence shooting.
