America barely had time to mourn Specialist Sarah Beckstrom before Rep. Jasmine Crockett decided to turn her tragic death into political ammunition. And she did it the same way the Left always does—by parroting gossip dug up by the activist press and treating it like gospel.
Let’s be clear: Beckstrom never said the disgraceful words Crockett is now putting in her mouth. She didn’t call her D.C. deployment a “waste of time.” She didn’t complain about “never asking to be there.” The only “source” claiming that is an ex-boyfriend the media tracked down like they were hunting Bigfoot. Even then, the claims weren’t backed up by her family or friends—people who actually knew her, loved her, and said she enjoyed her time serving in Washington. Her only hesitation, they explained, was about the famously tight restrictions on the National Guard’s mission in D.C.—a far cry from the melodramatic tale Crockett is selling.
But Crockett wasn’t going to let facts get in the way of a chance to score points against conservatives. Appearing on “The Weekend” on MSNOW, she launched into one of her familiar tirades about “illegal immigrants,” crime, and—her go-to bogeyman—“white supremacists.”
Here’s what she actually said:
“In Trump’s America, this is exactly what he wants, and the idea that one person can get out of line and commit such a horrific crime as shooting two of our National Guardsmen, two National Guardsmen that never, ever asked to be here. In fact, we know the young lady that lost her life specifically, we’re saying that this is a waste of time, but now you want to go against every single immigrant. That doesn’t make sense.”
Not done yet, she kept going:
“And it’s frankly not who we are, because if that’s the case, let’s talk about the white supremacists and how many of them need to be kicked out of this country, because I can guarantee you, I can track down more crimes that they’ve committed, because overall, immigrants have a lower crime committal rate than white supremacists, but we don’t want to talk about that in this country.”
White supremacists. Crime rates. Trump’s America. Crockett simply checked every square on the progressive bingo card.
Meanwhile, the actual issue—the preventable death of a young woman who served her country—is reduced to a prop in her political theater. Rather than honoring Beckstrom’s memory, she hijacks it to defend illegal immigration and smear anyone who disagrees.
Maybe the congresswoman should take her own advice about what “doesn’t make sense.” Because twisting the story of a fallen Guardsman to push talking points certainly fits that description.
