Jurors at Snaresbrook Crown Court in London heard how Barron Trump, the president’s youngest son, became an unlikely lifeline during a violent domestic assault unfolding thousands of miles away. According to testimony reported by Metro, a woman credits Barron Trump with intervening during a brutal attack by her ex-boyfriend—an intervention she says likely saved her life.
The nightmare reportedly began in the early morning hours of January 18, 2025, when the woman’s former partner, 22-year-old Matvei Rumianstev, erupted in violence. Rumianstev, described as a Russian former MMA fighter from East London, allegedly had a documented history of abusing the victim, including prior incidents of strangulation and rape.
As the assault unfolded around 2 a.m., the woman managed to connect with Barron Trump via FaceTime. What he saw was not a casual call—but chaos.
“I just saw a ceiling and could hear screaming. I could see a guy’s head on the phone, and then the camera turns to her crying and getting hit,” Trump told authorities, according to Metro. “I called you guys – that was the best thing I could do. I wasn’t going to call back and threaten things to him because that would just make the situation worse.”
Without hesitation, Trump contacted emergency services.
“I just got a call from a girl I know. She’s getting beaten up,” he told dispatchers.
Moments later, stressing the urgency, he added: “It’s really an emergency, please. I got a call from her with a guy beating her up,” after providing the woman’s address.
Police rushed to the scene and arrived in time to stop the assault. Body camera footage later captured the shaken victim explaining how help arrived.
“I’m friends with Barron Trump – Donald Trump’s son,” she told officers, adding that someone in the United States had called for help.
“So, apparently this informant from America is likely to be Donald Trump’s son,” one officer was heard telling a colleague. “This female is friends with Donald Trump’s son. She was on a FaceTime with him when this assault happened, and he’s called us.”
Jurors also heard the recording of the emergency call itself, including a tense exchange between Trump and a dispatcher—one moment in which he was accused of being “rude” while desperately trying to report a crime in progress.
Operator: Okay how do you know her?
Barron: I don’t think these details matter she’s getting beat up but okay fine, also I met her on social media, I don’t think that matters.
Operator: You know I can…
Barron: She’s getting beat up!
Operator: Can you stop being rude and actually answer my questions. If you want to help the person, you’ll answer my questions clearly and precisely, thank you. So how do you know her?
Barron: I met her on social media.
After officers arrived, they asked the woman to confirm the caller’s identity. She placed another call.
“Hello, Barron – did you call the police or anything?”
“I had someone call the police,” the president’s son replied, explaining to officers, “She called me. I picked up the phone expecting a nice hello or something.”
Prosecutors told the court that Rumianstev had “flown into a rage” fueled by jealousy over the woman’s relationship with Trump. The victim testified that her ex screamed insults, calling her a “slut and a whore,” and kicked her in the stomach while she lay on the floor. She also stated that Rumianstev had raped her twice, including just hours before the assault that triggered the emergency call.
In emotional testimony, the woman made clear she believes Barron Trump’s actions were nothing short of life-saving.
“[Trump] helped save my life. That call was like a sign from God at that moment.”
