‘Burn in Hell … you son of a bi**h!’ TV host erupts on air as Iran’s dictator is taken out

by

It was the kind of television moment that stops a nation mid-scroll.

As news broke that Iran’s hardline ruler, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, had been killed in a devastating joint U.S.–Israeli strike, Sky News Australia’s firebrand anchor Rita Panahi did not hold back. She detonated.

Switching into Persian — her mother tongue — Panahi delivered a raw, unscripted blast aimed squarely at the man who ruled Iran with an iron grip for nearly half a century.

“You son of a b—h, shame on you, burn in hell!”

The on-screen banner read: “RITA’S TAKE ON STRIKES ON IRAN.” What followed may go down as one of the most unforgettable editorials in Australian broadcast history.

“This will be the shortest editorial I’ll ever deliver,” she began coolly. Then came the hammer blow: “All I have to say is that after 47 years of Islamist tyranny, the dictator is dead and Iran is on the verge of being liberated.”

For nearly five decades, Khamenei presided over the Islamic Republic, enforcing strict Islamist rule, crushing dissent, and presiding over brutal crackdowns on women and political opponents. Now, according to Iranian state media and Western reports, he is gone — eliminated in a coordinated military operation that officials have dubbed “Operation Epic Fury.”

The strike targeted his fortified compound in central Tehran. Both Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed the compound’s destruction and Khamenei’s death, with reports indicating roughly 40 senior regime figures were also wiped out in the operation.

Panahi, visibly emotional yet resolute, admitted the moment felt almost surreal. “I never thought I would see this day in my lifetime.”

Her voice carried the weight of lived experience. Born to Iranian parents and raised in Tehran before fleeing to Australia in 1984, Panahi has long spoken out against the Islamic Republic’s repression — particularly its treatment of women. Saturday’s eruption wasn’t punditry. It was personal. And it was unapologetic.

She also credited Trump’s leadership, praising his “courage” in taking what she described as a significant “risk” in authorizing military action. For conservatives who have argued that strength — not appeasement — is the only language Tehran understands, the moment felt vindicating.

The viral clip, shared widely on X, surpassed 100,000 views within hours. Seated between two male panelists beneath the network’s slogan “REAL NEWS, HONEST VIEWS,” Panahi delivered her remarks with a mix of fury and finality.

It remains unclear whether the segment aired live or was prerecorded. Sky News Australia has not publicly commented.

Panahi, host of “The Rita Panahi Show” and a regular on programs like “Outsiders,” commands an audience of more than 500,000 followers on X. Her commentary fuses foreign policy, culture battles, and sharp criticism of progressive orthodoxy — often to the dismay of her detractors.

But this was different. This was a refugee-turned-broadcaster watching the architect of her homeland’s repression fall.
