Iranian president finally admits the obvious after Trump’s hammer drops

by

Iran’s leadership is finally saying the quiet part out loud: the regime got rocked by American strikes — and even Tehran can’t spin its way out of reality forever.

In a rare moment of honesty from a government better known for slogans than straight talk, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian admitted publicly that the Islamic Republic had taken serious damage from U.S. military attacks. The comments, aired on Iranian state media during a meeting of the Government Information Council, sounded less like revolutionary swagger and more like a regime trying to stop the bleeding before its own people stop buying the propaganda.

Iran’s leaders, Pezeshkian warned, “should avoid any tone or voices that create division, but we must also face reality; It is not the case that we have not suffered harm.”

That’s a remarkable confession from Tehran, where officials usually treat every military setback as some kind of glorious strategic masterstroke. For years, the regime has sold its citizens the fantasy that America is collapsing while Iran is somehow marching from victory to victory under sanctions, economic misery and diplomatic isolation.

Pezeshkian appeared eager to put at least some distance between himself and the usual cartoonish chest-thumping.

“Anyone in a position of leadership must speak honestly and transparently to their society and their people,” he said. “Misleading information, false messaging, or portraying a reality in which ‘they are collapsing while we are prospering’ is unacceptable. The truth is that both we and others face challenges.”

Still, Tehran being Tehran, the admission came packaged with the obligatory defiance. Pezeshkian insisted Iran “will not bow to pressure,” declaring, “We will not sacrifice our country’s dignity and honor for comfort or convenience.”

That line may play well inside regime circles, but it’s also a reminder of the bind Iran’s leadership now faces. The clerical state wants to project strength while simultaneously preparing its population for the painful reality that U.S. military pressure has exacted a steep cost.

Meanwhile, retired Gen. Jack Keane argued the U.S. shouldn’t let up now. During a Fox News appearance, Keane said America is “on the cusp of returning to full throttle combat operations,” warning that only sustained pressure can permanently cripple Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile ambitions.

That tougher line has also been echoed by Donald Trump, who has made clear he believes the clock is running out for Tehran to strike a deal before conditions worsen dramatically.

And in classic Trump fashion, the president also found time to unload on the corporate media, accusing major outlets of bending over backward to frame Iran as the winner no matter what happens on the battlefield.

“If Iran surrenders, admits their Navy is gone and resting at the bottom of the sea, and their Air Force is no longer with us, and if their entire Military walks out of Tehran, weapons dropped and hands held high, each shouting ‘I surrender, I surrender’ while wildly waving the representative White Flag, and if their entire remaining Leadership signs all necessary ‘Documents of Surrender,’ and admit their defeat to the great power and force of the magnificent U.S.A., The Failing New York Times, The China Street Journal (WSJ!), Corrupt and now Irrelevant CNN, and all other members of the Fake News Media, will headline that Iran had a Masterful and Brilliant Victory over The United States of America, it wasn’t even close,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“The Dumacrats and Media have totally lost their way. They have gone absolutely CRAZY!”
