The Democrats are once again discovering that the “party of decency” label falls apart the second somebody they dislike posts on X.
This week’s meltdown centered on White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, one of President Trump’s most unapologetic immigration hawks and a favorite punching bag of the left. After Miller trolled Texas Democrat James Talarico online by calling him “transgender,” the official Democratic Party X account responded with all the maturity of a middle-school cafeteria fight: “shut up you ugly f***.”
Classy.
The vulgar swipe immediately lit up conservative media circles and sparked outrage from Miller’s wife, former Trump administration official Katie Miller, who accused Democrats of normalizing the kind of toxic political rhetoric they claim to oppose.
Appearing on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle, Miller blasted the Democratic Party for embracing personal attacks instead of debating policy. “This is the same violent political rhetoric that is leading people to shooting up, whether it be the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, or President Trump in Butler,” she said. “But what remains to be seen is this is an anonymous account, and it is run actually by a sad liberal woman named Paulina, which is why Pew says 50% of liberal women at some time have identified that they have a mental health disorder. And she is certainly one of them. What a sad state for the pathetic Democrat party.”
The comment was aimed at Paulina Mangubat, the Democratic Party staffer reportedly tied to posts on the party’s official X account.
The ugly exchange came just days after a bruising political fight in Texas. Attorney General Ken Paxton defeated longtime Sen. John Cornyn in a Republican Senate primary runoff, setting up a general election battle against Democrat James Talarico.
Republicans have gone hard after Talarico’s progressive positions on gender and culture-war issues, while Democrats have responded by trying to turn GOP figures into internet villains instead of addressing the criticism head-on.
And once again, the self-appointed guardians of “civility” looked more interested in dropping F-bombs than making arguments.
