President Donald Trump experienced one of the more remarkable 24-hour stretches of his political career this week: reports of a fresh Iranian assassination threat followed by the official renaming of Palm Beach International Airport in his honor.
According to multiple reports, including a Wall Street Journal exclusive, Israeli intelligence recently shared information with U.S. officials regarding an alleged new Iranian plot targeting Trump. The reports come amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran and years of Iranian vows to avenge the 2020 killing of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani.
Trump did not exactly respond with diplomatic ambiguity.
In a Truth Social post that immediately drew national attention, the president issued a blunt warning about the consequences of any attempt on his life.
“1000 Missiles are Locked and Loaded and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, with thousands of more to immediately follow, should the Iranian Government act on its threat,” Trump wrote.
He continued, “Orders have already been given, and the U.S. Military is ready, willing, and able, for a one year period of time, subject to extension, to completely decimate and destroy all areas of Iran.”

The threat did not emerge in a vacuum.
Trump remains the only modern American political figure to survive multiple assassination attempts while also facing documented foreign threats. Iranian officials and state-backed actors have repeatedly called for retaliation over Soleimani’s death, and U.S. intelligence agencies have publicly acknowledged concerns regarding Iranian plots in previous years.
By Saturday morning, however, the mood had shifted.
Trump turned his attention to South Florida, where Palm Beach International Airport officially became President Donald J. Trump International Airport after legislation approved by the Florida Legislature and signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis earlier this year. The first aircraft to land under the new designation was Trump Force One carrying Eric Trump and members of the Trump family.
Sharing photos from local coverage, Trump celebrated the milestone online.
“Wow! Palm Beach has always been a special place to me. So Beautiful!!!” Trump posted.

The renaming is historic for another reason. Multiple reports note that it is believed to be the first major U.S. airport named after a sitting president. The airport’s transition includes new signage and a forthcoming change in airport identifiers reflecting Trump’s initials.
Supporters viewed the event as a fitting tribute to a president whose political movement reshaped both Florida and national politics. Critics complained about the cost and symbolism. But even many detractors acknowledged the significance of seeing one of Florida’s busiest airports bear the name of a president who calls nearby Mar-a-Lago home.
Whether viewed as a political statement, a historical marker, or a sign of Trump’s enduring influence, the contrast was impossible to miss.
One day, foreign adversaries are allegedly plotting revenge. The next, an international airport is carrying your name. Not many politicians live in that world.
Leave it to the media to miss the biggest story. Left-wing juggernaut, Mediaite led with this headline: ‘Wow!’ Trump Wakes Up Basking In Glow of New Honor After Going To Bed Raging About Assassination Plans.
The headline should not be that Trump went to bed angry and woke up happy. The headline is that a sitting American president is reportedly the target of a fresh Iranian assassination plot and somehow certain media outlets decided the truly important angle was his mood.
Imagine for a second if Iran were allegedly plotting to kill Barack Obama. Or Joe Biden. Or any Democratic president. CNN would be running dramatic music over grainy footage 24 hours a day while experts warned of an existential threat to democracy. Instead, with Trump, the story somehow becomes, “Look, he posted about an airport!”
Yes. He did. And why not? Palm Beach just named an international airport after him. That’s not exactly the equivalent of winning Employee of the Month at Costco.
Meanwhile, the same people who spent years insisting Trump was a threat to democracy seem oddly unconcerned when America’s enemies reportedly discuss eliminating him altogether.
