THE DAILY BS: HOW MUCH CAN YOU HANDLE?

SPARE ME THE BS (I’ve got things to do).

  • Democratic county legislative candidate Kisha Skipper was detained after an altercation at a political forum in Yonkers, New York.
  • The incident involved Donna Nolan, mother of Republican opponent James Nolan, who reportedly suffered an abrasion to her lip.
  • Skipper and the Nolan family offered conflicting accounts, and police said no criminal charges had been filed.

LAY IT ON ME (I’ve got time).

Most candidates leave a political forum hoping voters remember their answers.

Democratic candidate Kisha Skipper left one in police custody after a bathroom confrontation involving her Republican opponent’s mother.

Yes, this really happened.

Wednesday night’s political roundtable at the Beczak Environmental Education Center in Yonkers, New York, took a remarkable turn when Skipper became involved in a confrontation inside the women’s bathroom.

Skipper is challenging Westchester County Legislator James Nolan, a Republican. His mother, Donna Nolan, became involved in the incident, and by the time it was over, police had arrived, and medical attention was required.

Local reporting identified another woman in the confrontation: Stephanie Holguin, who said she had previously worked for Skipper’s campaign and claimed she was owed approximately $2,000. Skipper disputed the money claim.

According to News 12, video captured Skipper arguing with Holguin inside the restroom before Donna Nolan entered.

And this is where the accounts begin to diverge. Skipper says the women blocked her exit and that she was assaulted while trying to leave.

“I asked them to excuse me twice and then proceeded to try and open the door to try and get out of the restroom. I was assaulted,” she told News 12.

James Nolan tells a decidedly different story. He says his mother went into the restroom to separate the women and was attacked.

According to The Yonkers Ledger, police said Donna Nolan suffered an abrasion to her lip and received hospital treatment. Skipper also reported pain and was taken for medical evaluation.

Skipper was placed in handcuffs and transported from the event in a police vehicle, but authorities said no criminal charges had been filed as the investigation continued.

It’s the kind of story that makes a normal campaign argument about property taxes seem almost quaint.

Election Day is November 3. At this point, perhaps the organizers of the next candidates’ forum should add a security briefing to the agenda.
