Some politicians kiss babies. Others shake hands.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey apparently prefers interpretive hip-hop.

A video of the progressive mayor dancing at the Black Entrepreneur State Fair went viral over the weekend, showing Frey in sunglasses, swaying, gyrating and doing his level best to find a beat that seemed determined to avoid him.

The internet noticed.

Conservative commentator Benny Johnson called Frey a “walking humiliation ritual,” while Emily Jashinsky joked, “I’d honestly prefer that he defund the police.”

OutKick’s Ian Miller went for the jugular, arguing that Democrats have become “the party of theater kids” — and apparently not the particularly talented ones.

The New York Post joined the fun, describing Frey’s performance as “awkward plodding” and noting this isn’t the first time the mayor’s dancing has attracted attention. Frey was previously mocked online for dancing while waving a Somali flag at a Somali Independence Day celebration.

This latest performance came during the weeklong Black Entrepreneur State Fair, which ran Aug. 9-15 at Minneapolis’ Midtown Global Market.

MY QUICK TAKE:

Folks, I don’t normally criticize a man’s dancing. I have mirrors in my house.

But there comes a moment when a trusted aide needs to walk over, gently put a hand on the mayor’s shoulder and say: “Sir. The voters have suffered enough.”

Dance like nobody’s watching? Not when you’re the mayor.

Everybody has a phone. And the internet is forever.
