TOTAL BS!
DALLAS — Hasan Piker is demanding royalties from the Republican Party after convention organizers displayed a photograph of the left-wing streamer wearing only his underwear on a giant screen at the GOP’s midterm convention.
Piker reportedly became aware of his unexpected modeling debut while watching convention coverage and immediately referred the matter to his newly assembled licensing team.
“You can’t put a man’s underwear on a 40-foot screen and expect the underwear to work for free,” entertainment licensing specialist Cash M. Outt said. “That’s show business.”
Negotiations reportedly began within minutes.
Piker’s opening compensation package includes an appearance fee, residuals for every replay of the convention video and an additional surcharge whenever the image is displayed in a red state.
Republican officials rejected an early proposal after discovering Piker also wanted a percentage of merchandise sales.
The dispute then moved to the question of whether Piker’s appearance constituted political commentary or an unauthorized modeling engagement.
Convention wardrobe consultant Drew P. Drawers said party officials remain confident they are on solid ground.
“We didn’t hire Hasan Piker as an underwear model,” Drawers said. “We simply displayed him in his underwear to thousands of people.”
Attorneys for both sides were reportedly reviewing the matter late Wednesday.
One issue remains unresolved: whether future use of the image would require a standard licensing fee or trigger Piker’s newly proposed “prime-time briefs” rate.
Piker’s representatives have also added one final provision.
If the Republicans put him on the Jumbotron again, he wants a dressing room.
This is TOTAL BS satire. Any alleged royalty negotiations, licensing demands and suspiciously named experts are entirely unserious.
