Fla socialist Angie Nixon says she knows ‘for a fact’ Trump won’t willingly leave in 2029

BS BULLETIN:

  • Florida Democratic Senate nominee Angie Nixon says President Donald Trump is laying the groundwork to remain in office beyond the end of his current term.
  • Nixon told journalist Scott MacFarlane that Trump “won’t leave willingly” on Jan. 20, 2029, adding, “I know that for a fact.”
  • Trump has publicly toyed with the idea of 2028 but recently acknowledged that existing law stands in the way of another presidential run.

Florida Democratic Senate nominee Angie Nixon isn’t merely worried President Donald Trump might resist leaving office when his term ends.

She says she knows it “for a fact.”

Nixon made the extraordinary claim during an interview with journalist Scott MacFarlane, arguing that Trump is already putting the pieces in place to remain in power beyond Jan. 20, 2029.

“This guy is laying out his plan,” Nixon said. “He’s laying the foundation and the groundwork to not leave in 2028.”

Nixon pointed specifically to the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement policies, accusing the president of having “weaponized” ICE and turned it into a “paramilitary force.” She also cited Trump’s deployment of the National Guard and even referenced construction of the White House ballroom as evidence supporting her concerns.

MacFarlane pressed Nixon directly on what she was alleging.

“Are you making the argument, Ms. Nixon, that you don’t think he’s gonna leave on Jan. 20, 2029?” he asked.

“He didn’t wanna leave in 2021!” Nixon responded.

She then pointed to Trump’s continued claims about the 2020 election and said she believes he is “putting things in place” so that he won’t leave office.

“He won’t leave willingly,” Nixon said. “I know that for a fact, and so people need to be on high alert as it relates to that.”

Nixon made a similar argument in a recent Vox interview, saying Trump “is not going to leave willingly in 2028” and again describing ICE as a paramilitary force. The Florida state representative has made warnings about authoritarianism a recurring theme of her Senate campaign.

In an August interview with The Guardian, Nixon said she was concerned about whether the country would still be “standing” because she believes Trump does not want to leave the White House.

Nixon is the Democratic nominee challenging Republican Sen. Ashley Moody in Florida’s 2026 Senate race. She won an upset Democratic primary victory over Alex Vindman last month and is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, although she has emphasized that she does not embrace the organization’s entire platform.

Trump, meanwhile, has repeatedly flirted publicly with the idea of remaining president beyond his current term.

But when directly asked in August whether he was serious about seeking another term, Trump acknowledged the legal obstacle. “I’d love to run, but the law is very strong,” Trump said.

The 22nd Amendment says no person may be elected president more than twice.
