As if the Lindsay Clancy case weren’t explosive enough, the culture war surrounding it has now managed to reach the 19th Amendment.

Online anger over the mistrial — particularly the overwhelming female support for Clancy inside and outside the courtroom — has produced calls from some conservative accounts to repeal women’s constitutional right to vote.

One blunt post circulating online declared:

“Convict Clancy. Also Repeal the 19th Amendment!”

That might sound like internet trolling destined to disappear into the social-media sewer.

Some Republican women aren’t laughing.

Political and legal strategist Mehek Cooke told Fox News Digital that the rhetoric poses “definitely a threat” within the Republican Party, warning that fringe activists talking about stripping women of voting rights only alienate voters Republicans should be trying to win.

The political timing couldn’t be much better for Democrats. The controversy erupted as Republicans gathered in Dallas for their first midterm convention and prepared for a November election in which control of Congress is at stake.

Tiffany Losee, director of fundraising for The Conservative Caucus, argued that’s precisely why Republicans shouldn’t take the bait.

“This is all a game to the Democrat Party,” Losee told Fox.

Her argument: Democrats can elevate the most extreme rhetoric coming from people on the right and make it representative of the entire Republican Party — while diverting attention from Democratic policies Republicans would rather be campaigning against.

Cooke made a similar distinction between the online right and actual Republican voters. “Social media isn’t real life,” she said.

But the anger that produced the rhetoric didn’t materialize from nowhere.

Clancy admitted killing her three young children — Cora, Dawson and Callan — while her attorneys argued she was not criminally responsible because she suffered from postpartum psychosis.

Her six-week trial ended in a mistrial after the jury split 11-1, with 11 jurors favoring a verdict of not guilty by reason of insanity. The jury consisted of nine women and three men.

Then came the images that helped ignite the cultural backlash: hundreds of predominantly female Clancy supporters, many dressed in pink, rallying outside the courthouse.

That combination — the female-heavy jury, the female-heavy demonstrations and the 11-1 vote — became rocket fuel online.

It has gone beyond random posts.

A Change.org petition explicitly calling for repeal of the 19th Amendment “in light of the Lindsay Clancy trial” was created September 5. The petition argues that the trial raises questions about female jurors’ impartiality and calls repeal a “drastic but necessary measure.”

As of the latest page captured Sunday, however, it had attracted just 23 verified signatures — an important indication of how fringe the actual campaign remains.

Meanwhile, the jury controversy itself continues.

Jurors who favored acquittal have publicly criticized the lone holdout. One juror alleged he used an exercise band and water bottle during deliberations to demonstrate how the children were strangled and said he could not point to testimony supporting his position.

The Associated Press reported that jurors said the holdout acknowledged having reasonable doubt but nevertheless would not vote to find Clancy not criminally responsible.

That has only intensified an already ugly online fight.

Cooke’s prescription for Republicans is considerably less dramatic than repealing a constitutional amendment: don’t surrender female voters to Democrats.

“It’s our responsibility to pull them in and show them common sense,” she told Fox.

Three murdered children. An 11-1 jury. Pink-clad courthouse rallies. A furious internet. And somehow we have arrived at taking away women’s right to vote.

Welcome to politics in 2026, where apparently no argument is allowed to stop before reaching DEFCON 1.

Losee spotted the political problem: Democrats don’t need the Republican Party to endorse something this crazy. They just need a screenshot from somebody who does.

Twenty-three petition signatures can become 23 million campaign-ad impressions awfully fast.
