BS BULLETIN:
- MS NOW reported that Trump administration officials discussed adding President Donald Trump’s name to Ford’s Theatre, where Abraham Lincoln was assassinated.
- Trump flatly denied it, calling the report a “ridiculous lie” and “FAKE NEWS.”
- The White House and Interior Department also denied the report, while MS NOW attributed its story to people familiar with the discussions.
President Donald Trump has apparently found one Washington building he definitely does not want named after him.
Trump unloaded Wednesday night on an MS NOW report claiming administration officials had discussed putting his name on Ford’s Theatre — the Washington landmark where Abraham Lincoln was assassinated in 1865.
MS NOW reported that administration officials had circulated a list of government properties where Trump’s name could potentially be added in some fashion, citing people familiar with the effort.
Ford’s Theatre was reportedly among them.
Trump’s response left very little room for interpretation.
The story that the White House, or me, want to affix my name to Ford’s Theatre, in Washington, D.C., where Abraham Lincoln was assassinated, is a ridiculous lie. It is FAKE NEWS! Who would possibly want a name on such a tragic place?
The Dumocrats suffer from serious Trump Derangement Syndrome. They are Degenerates and Losers who make up lie after lie, and this Ford’s Theatre Hoax is just another one of their never-ending, malicious falsehoods to try to discredit and demean.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
President DONALD J. TRUMP
Trump wasn’t the only one denying it.
The White House told The Independent that the story was “completely false” and accused MS NOW of relying on anonymous sources who did not know what they were talking about.
The Interior Department, which oversees the National Park Service and Ford’s Theatre National Historic Site, separately said: “This is not true.”
🚨 NOW: President Trump is GOING OFF on the fake news after they published another lie
“The Dumocrats make up lie after lie. The new one is that I want Ford’s Theater named after me. That’s where Abraham Lincoln was assassinated. Who would want that? I don’t! It is FAKE NEWS… pic.twitter.com/6jgTe1ro8E

MS NOW reported that administration officials had discussed sites where Trump’s name could be attached and cited a former administration official who said aides sometimes advance naming ideas as a way of flattering the president.
An administration official also reportedly confirmed that the Ford’s Theatre idea had been discussed but said the official did not know its current status.
There would be another complication even if somebody wanted to pursue it.
Ford’s Theatre is designated in federal law as a national historic site, meaning formally changing its statutory name would likely require congressional action.
MY QUICK TAKE
Considering the White House, Interior Department, and Trump himself all denied this one, MS NOW now owns the interesting part of the story: Who exactly was discussing it, and how far did this supposed idea actually get?
