Trump introduces Jesse Watters to Xi: ‘Great, great man! Not as great as me!’

Jesse Watters went to the White House for dinner with the president of China.

He came home with a Donald Trump story.

The Fox News host gave his colleagues on “The Five” a play-by-play Friday of his night at President Trump’s state dinner for Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Watters was one of several Fox personalities invited to Thursday night’s event, along with Bret Baier and Laura Ingraham. The guest list also included some of the biggest names in American technology and business, including Mark Zuckerberg and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang.

But Watters saved the best part for Xi.

Near the end of the evening, Watters said he finally got a chance to shake hands with the Chinese leader.

And Trump apparently decided an introduction was in order.

“Xi, great, great man! Not as great as me!”

That, according to Watters, was how the president introduced the Fox host to the leader of China.

Watters said Xi responded with a nod.

The host appeared to enjoy the entire evening, telling his co-hosts that it had been a “real fun time.”

That wasn’t Watters’ only story from the dinner.

He also described running into Apple CEO Tim Cook at his hotel and congratulating him on his success.

According to Watters, Cook congratulated him right back — while apparently mistaking him for Tucker Carlson.

Watters also recalled asking Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to hold his drink while photographs were being taken because Watters didn’t want to be photographed holding it.

Hegseth reportedly declined for exactly the same reason.

“I can’t be seen holding a drink!”

The dinner capped Xi’s three-day state visit to Washington, which included meetings with Trump on trade, technology and other disputes between the United States and China. Trump said after Xi departed Friday that the meetings had been productive and that the two leaders expect to meet again in November.

For Watters, however, one diplomatic accomplishment may be harder to top. He got introduced to Xi Jinping by the president of the United States.

And Trump still managed to make sure everyone knew who ranked first.
