Mullin drops massive voter-fraud number — but there’s an important catch

by

BS BULLETIN:

  • Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin says DHS is reviewing more than 300,000 people suspected of potentially voting illegally.
  • He says 1,620 investigations are currently open and 151 arrests have already been made.
  • But the 300,000 figure is a pool being screened — not 300,000 confirmed cases of voter fraud.

Now that is a number guaranteed to make people sit up.

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin says his department is reviewing more than 300,000 suspected individuals as part of its investigation into possible illegal voting.

Speaking with CNN’s Dana Bash, Mullin said:

“We have over 300,000 we’re looking into, and that number is growing.”

He added that DHS currently has 1,620 open cases and has made 151 arrests.

Those numbers have been circulating online under variations of “300,000 voter-fraud cases.”

That is not quite what Mullin said.

The 300,000 figure refers to records or individuals DHS says it is screening by comparing voter-roll information against immigration and citizenship data.

Mullin previously explained:

“We’re scrubbing them.”

He said officials are trying to determine whether the people involved are undocumented immigrants, lawful permanent residents or American citizens — and whether any actually voted illegally.

In other words: 300,000 flags to examine. 1,620 active investigations. 151 arrests.

And Wednesday brought fresh examples of cases that have moved beyond the screening stage.

The Justice Department announced federal indictments against 10 foreign nationals in Minnesota, alleging they illegally voted in elections dating from 2022 through the August 2026 primary. The defendants are accused individually of offenses including voting as noncitizens and falsely claiming U.S. citizenship.

Four additional noncitizens were charged with election-related offenses in Pennsylvania the previous week.

Mullin has repeatedly argued that DHS will continue pursuing suspected illegal voting because federal law generally prohibits noncitizens from voting in federal elections.

“Every single individual that votes illegal in our elections cancel out the American citizens’ votes that are doing it the right way.”
