Trump warns guests to take caution on first ballroom tour, jokes ‘only a Hispanic could survive that fall’

by

BS BULLETIN:

  • President Trump invited guests at the White House Hispanic Heritage Month celebration to become the first group to walk onto the floor of his new ballroom.
  • He warned them to be careful around the unfinished construction site because it was “a long way down.”
  • Then came the Trump punchline: “Only a Hispanic could survive that fall.”

President Donald Trump had a special surprise waiting for guests at the White House’s Hispanic Heritage Month celebration.

And a warning.

Trump told the crowd gathered in the East Room Wednesday that they would become the first White House guests allowed onto the floor of his still-under-construction ballroom.

“We’re gonna open those doors, and you’ll be the first people of consequence to ever step on the new ballroom floor,” Trump told the audience. “You’ll be the first ones. The Hispanics will be the first.”

Trump then explained that a tunnel leads from the White House toward what he predicted would be “the greatest ballroom ever built,” part of a larger complex he said would include a military facility and drone port.

Then came the safety briefing: “You literally will be the first group ever to enter the premises. So be very careful. Don’t fall over the edge, because it’s a long way down.”

And then Trump added: “And only a Hispanic could survive that fall. So, I’m not overly worried.”

The line drew cheers from the audience.

The reception marked the first in-person Hispanic Heritage Month celebration at the White House during Trump’s second administration. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also appeared at the event.

Trump spoke for nearly an hour, ranging well beyond the ballroom and Hispanic Heritage Month. He discussed Iran, the withdrawal of the remaining American troops from Iraq, immigration and the approaching midterm elections, according to White House pool reports.

But he repeatedly returned to the ballroom, a project that has become something of a personal showcase for the president.

The White House says the roughly 90,000-square-foot ballroom will seat about 650 people, more than triple the East Room’s seated capacity of approximately 200. Construction began in September 2025 and is being privately funded, according to the administration.

On Wednesday, Trump made sure his Hispanic Heritage Month guests got bragging rights before anybody else.

Just watch your step.

MY QUICK TAKE

Trump may be the only president who can turn a White House construction tour into a safety warning, an ethnic joke and an applause line in about 15 seconds.
