BS BULLETIN:
- Police say a Georgia diner faked a medical emergency after getting a roughly $63 bill at Red Lobster.
- The 26-year-old allegedly called 911 hoping to avoid paying.
- Emergency responders found him medically fine — and police took him to jail instead.
A Georgia man apparently decided there was only one way out of a $63 Red Lobster bill.
Call 911.
Police say 26-year-old Abdul Rasheed was dining at a Red Lobster on Highway 5 in Douglasville on Sept. 24 when he allegedly tried to fake a medical emergency rather than pay his tab.
Rasheed himself called 911, according to Douglasville police. That brought emergency responders to the restaurant. There was just one problem.
Police say Rasheed was fine.
What officers did find, according to authorities, was a diner who apparently hoped the supposed emergency would get him out of paying for his meal. It did not.
Rasheed was arrested and booked into the Douglas County Jail.
WSB-TV, citing Douglasville police, reported that he was charged with theft of services, unlawful conduct during a 911 call and making a false report.
Other reporting based on jail records lists the tab at $63.77 and shows bonds totaling $4,500.
