THE DAILY BS: HOW MUCH CAN YOU HANDLE?

SPARE ME THE BS (I’ve got things to do).
- Minneapolis City Council Vice President Jamal Osman accuses Trump of breaking the law following the federal search of Ilhan Omar’s Washington home.
- Federal agents reportedly seized Omar’s phone, passport and computers, while investigators issued more than a dozen subpoenas involving her relatives.
- The investigation centers on her family’s immigration paperwork and could lead to an attempt to revoke her citizenship. Omar denies wrongdoing.
LAY IT ON ME (I’ve got time).
Federal agents have seized Rep. Ilhan Omar’s phone and passport, investigators are examining the immigration paperwork that helped her become an American citizen, and some of her supporters in Minnesota have a message for President Donald Trump: Stop it.
Minneapolis City Council Vice President Jamal Osman, a Somali-born Democrat, lashed out at the administration following Monday’s search of Omar’s Washington, D.C., home, telling Fox News Digital that members of his community feel personally targeted.
“Somalis — we all feel attacked by President Trump,” Osman declared.
He went further, accusing the president of repeatedly breaking the law and claiming federal immigration enforcement has terrorized his community.
“We have seen the threats, the horrific language he uses against my community,” Osman said. “It’s unacceptable and we’re hoping this could stop.”
We stand with Rep. @IlhanMN – and all our immigrant neighbors.
Here in Minneapolis, we know what it means to show up for one another. We’ve done it before. We’ll do it again.
We all belong here. And each of us has a responsibility to make that promise real for everyone. —J

But while the political outrage is growing, so is the federal investigation.
The Associated Press reported Thursday that investigators seized Omar’s cellphone and issued more than a dozen grand jury subpoenas, including subpoenas involving relatives. Additional reporting indicates agents also collected her passport, computers and notebooks during the search.
The Wall Street Journal reports that the Trump administration is investigating whether Omar or her late father provided inaccurate information about her age during the family’s immigration process, potentially allowing her to obtain derivative citizenship through her father’s naturalization.
Omar arrived in the United States from Somalia in 1995 as a child refugee and became a citizen in 2000.
🚨 SHOCKING: Investigators SEIZED Ilhan Omar’s Phone, Computers, and PASSPORT 💣
DOZENS of SUBPOENAS have been SERVED to Omar’s INNER CIRCLE. 🔥
Will OMAR’S CITIZENSHIP be STRIPPED? Will she be DEPORTED?
Is she EVEN A CITIZEN? Her citizenship came through her FATHER, who LIED about his MILITARY BACKGROUND.
Omar’s father? A COLONEL in Somalia’s military DICTATORSHIP. 🤯

The legal stakes are substantial. If investigators establish that citizenship was unlawfully obtained through material fraud or misrepresentation, federal authorities could attempt to pursue denaturalization proceedings. Such an outcome would require legal proceedings and is far from automatic.
Omar has not been found guilty of immigration fraud, and the government has not publicly established that she obtained citizenship illegally.
Her husband, Tim Mynett, sounds thoroughly unconcerned.
“My wife came here when she was 12 years old as a child war refugee,” he told Fox News Digital. “No concerns.”
Meanwhile, Osman is arguing that the administration has already crossed a line.
“We live in the United States, which is the land of the laws,” he told Fox. “I don’t expect Trump or anyone in this matter to break the U.S. Constitution.”
He acknowledged that legal procedures exist but insisted the president cannot simply announce that he intends to deport American citizens.
“There’s a court process, there’s due process,” Osman said. “He can’t say he’s gonna deport her, he’s gonna deport me, thousands of Somalis.”
His final message to Trump was considerably shorter: “Stop it.”
“We’re American citizens like everyone else,” he added.
Other Somali-born residents interviewed by Fox expressed similar concerns. A 37-year-old Minneapolis social worker identified only as Abdi accused Trump of using the power of his office to humiliate Omar, claiming the president’s criticism has encouraged hostility toward Somali Americans. “It’s personal,” Abdi said, arguing that Trump treats Omar as someone beneath him rather than as a member of Congress. He also questioned what it would mean for the country if Omar ultimately lost her citizenship.
Another Somali-American resident, a 22-year-old woman who requested anonymity, told Fox she wasn’t surprised by the investigation because Omar’s immigration history has been publicly questioned for years.
Trump, for his part, has not softened his assessment of the Minnesota congresswoman.
“I’ve always found her to be totally crooked, personally, but that has nothing to do with me,” he said when questioned about the search. “I think she’s a terrible person, but that’s really up to the DOJ. I have nothing to do with it.”
The Justice Department has confirmed that Homeland Security Investigations agents executed a judicially authorized search warrant. Federal officials have not publicly released the underlying evidence supporting the investigation.
Omar is seeking reelection in November, placing the investigation squarely inside the final weeks of a congressional campaign. Democrats have criticized the timing, citing longstanding Justice Department caution about investigative actions that could influence elections.
Omar’s office has denounced the search as an abuse of federal power.
“The Congresswoman has done nothing wrong,” her office said in a statement, accusing the administration of attempting to intimidate a political opponent.
There is also a separate federal examination of Omar’s financial disclosures, including previously reported changes to valuations involving business interests associated with her husband. That inquiry is distinct from the immigration investigation that prompted the search of her residence.
For now, the central questions remain unanswered: Did Omar’s family submit materially inaccurate immigration documents decades ago? If so, did those inaccuracies affect her citizenship eligibility? And can federal investigators prove any legally consequential wrongdoing?
