THE DAILY BS: HOW MUCH CAN YOU HANDLE?

SPARE ME THE BS (I’ve got things to do).

  • A bomb threat prompted a police investigation and traffic restrictions at President Donald J. Trump International Airport in West Palm Beach on Sunday, October 18.
  • The sheriff’s office said investigators found nothing; airport officials announced normal operations had resumed at 2:34 p.m.
  • Trump was scheduled to depart later that day. Officials did not publicly establish that the call targeted the president.

LAY IT ON ME (I’ve got time).

A bomb threat disrupted access to President Donald J. Trump International Airport in West Palm Beach on Sunday, hours before the president was scheduled to leave Florida. Investigators found nothing, and the airport subsequently returned to normal operations.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the bomb threat to WPTV. In a subsequent report, the station said deputies found no explosives or suspicious items and determined there was no active threat.

“Law enforcement is investigating a suspicious phone call,” airport officials said in their initial advisory.

The sheriff’s office restricted traffic entering the terminal as a precaution. A witness told WPTV the arrivals and departures area was blocked to vehicles, and some passengers got out of their cars along Belvedere Boulevard and walked toward the airport, worried about missing their flights.

As if getting through an airport weren’t enough of an obstacle course already.

The airport’s X account posted its initial warning at 1:23 p.m. At 2:34 p.m., it announced: “Roadways to the terminal have reopened. Airport operations have returned to normal.”

Trump had been spending the weekend in Florida and was scheduled to depart from the airport later Sunday. The timing made the security response particularly sensitive, but officials did not publicly establish that the president was personally threatened.

No delay to Trump’s departure was established in the reports. The documented disruption involved access to the terminal; an airport-wide flight shutdown was not confirmed.

The reports did not identify a caller or establish a motive. The immediate scare ended with traffic restored and nothing found during the investigation.
