♠️The Duchess of Dirt: Jon Ossoff’s $4,636 beauty bill gets a mysterious little makeover

by

♠️Darlings, there are certain things a gentleman should never discuss in polite company.

His bank balance. His romantic disappointments. And exactly how much he spends trying to look effortlessly handsome.

Which brings us to Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff, whose campaign apparently believes that looking camera-ready requires the assistance of a Hollywood professional.

And not just any professional.

According to campaign finance disclosures examined by the Washington Free Beacon, Ossoff’s reelection operation has paid $4,636 this year to Stephanie Ponder, an Atlanta-based makeup artist whose credits include The Notebook and The Hunger Games.

Good heavens.

I’ve heard of politicians preparing for a tough campaign, but I didn’t realize one needed the beauty department from a major motion picture.

The first $2,887 in payments, made earlier this year, were straightforward enough. They were reported as “makeup services.”

Perfectly understandable. Television lights are unforgiving, and the Duchess herself wouldn’t dream of appearing before a camera without suitable assistance.

But then something rather curious happened.

In July, the campaign made another payment to the same makeup artist.

This time, the bill was $1,749.

And instead of “makeup services,” the campaign described the expenditure as “event production.”

Event production!

Darling, that’s quite a promotion.

One minute you’re applying foundation, and the next you’re apparently producing the entire occasion.

Perhaps the senator’s cheekbones require their own production crew.

Now, the Duchess isn’t suggesting that a makeup artist cannot perform other services. But when thousands of dollars in previously identified beauty expenses suddenly acquire a different description, a lady is certainly entitled to raise a perfectly groomed eyebrow.

And here’s another delightful morsel.

The Free Beacon reports that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a woman who is hardly a stranger to cameras, reported approximately $2,338 in campaign hair and makeup expenses this year.

That leaves Ossoff spending nearly twice as much as AOC.

I must confess, darlings, I did not have that particular beauty competition on my bingo card.

Meanwhile, the senator’s appearance has attracted attention from admirers in the media.

MS NOW host Chris Hayes has described Ossoff as a “very conventionally handsome” man who “could be in a movie.”

Well, with credits like The Notebook and The Hunger Games represented on his makeup artist’s résumé, perhaps Hollywood isn’t such an outrageous possibility.

The larger mystery remains that July expense description. Why was a payment to the same professional listed differently this time?

Perhaps there’s a perfectly ordinary explanation. Perhaps she really was helping with event production.

But until somebody explains the change, the Duchess will simply admire the paperwork.

After all, darling, the secret to a beautiful appearance is good lighting, a talented makeup artist, and apparently a campaign finance report that knows how to change its look with the seasons.

And if anyone knows an experienced Hollywood makeup artist willing to work for considerably less than $4,636, do send her my way.

I have standards, darlings. But I also have a budget.
