Vice President Kamala Harris was speaking at a holiday event when she was interrupted by a protesting member of her own party.
The vice president was mid-speech at the holiday gathering being held at the US Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C., where she resides with husband and second gentleman Doug Emhoff when a Democrat lawmaker disrupted with demands about a ceasefire in Gaza.
Delaware state Representative Madinah Wilson-Anton interrupted Harris when she unrolled a banner declaring “ceasefire” and shouted demands in the crowded space about the ongoing Israel war against Hamas terrorists.
“Madam Vice President, I am a rep from Delaware. Did you know in Bethlehem they are not celebrating Christmas? Did you know in Bethlehem, baby Jesus is under rubble? Why won’t you call for a cease-fire?'” Wilson-Anton asked the vice president who attempted to keep speaking.
Harris did not respond to the questioning but told the progressive lawmaker, “I appreciate you wanting to be heard, but right now I’m speaking.”

The congresswoman, who began serving in the Delaware House of Representatives in 2021, was summarily escorted out of the event by security. She could be heard yelling, “Call for a cease-fire now,” as she was taken out of the room.
She later posted a video of the incident to social media.
“Christmas is cancelled in Bethlehem,” read the caption by the 30-year-old progressive who was the first Muslim official elected in the state.
Wilson-Anton joins the likes of other far-left Democrats calling for a ceasefire such as House progressive Reps. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., and Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich.
Last month, President Joe Biden had asserted in a Washington Post op-ed that “a cease-fire is not peace.”
“As long as Hamas clings to its ideology of destruction, a cease-fire is not peace. To Hamas’ members, every cease-fire is time they exploit to rebuild their stockpile of rockets, reposition fighters and restart the killing by attacking innocents again,” Biden said.
Wilson-Anton may have gotten praise for her “brave” antics from fellow leftists but many X users voiced their criticism.
