President Donald Trump’s youngest son is at the center of a situation at his college that led to the resignation of a student leader.
Barron Trump was described as an “oddity on campus” by Kaya Walker, the president of the College Republicans of America (CRA) chapter at New York University, who resigned on Sunday. The undergraduate student made the comments about the 19-year-old son of the president and first lady Melania Trump in an interview with Vanity Fair.
“He’s sort of like an oddity on campus. He goes to class, he goes home,” she had said of the over-six-foot-tall Trump who is enrolled at New York University’s Stern School of Business.
The CRA announced Walker’s resignation in an X post on Monday, calling her comments “inappropriate.”
“We have been made aware of a statement by the NYU chapter President that does not align with the values and principles upheld by our organization,” the statement read, referring to the Vanity Fair interview.
“Though Vanity Fair and The Independent unfairly framed what was said, upon review, we still found it to be inappropriate. The NYU chapter President submitted her resignation last night,” the group said in the post that invited the young Trump to fill the vacancy and to “join us in reshaping the Republican Party.”

The group said it was “collaborating closely with the NYU chapter to ensure a smooth transition in leadership.”
“CRA broke with 100 years of precedent when we endorsed President Trump, being the first national College Republican organization to endorse a candidate before the beginning of the primary season,” the message noted.
In a separate message, CRA President Will Donahue said Trump “represents the future of the conservative movement,” adding that “we would be honored to have him join College Republicans of America.”
“Strong leadership is built on resilience, courage, and the humility to rise above petty hostility—qualities that Barron had already demonstrated. We invite Barron to join us in shaping the future of our party,” Donahue added.

Walker is reportedly seeking a BA in International Relations and French at the university, according to Daily Mail which noted that she ” is a New England native who interned at the Bronx District Attorney’s Office and had plans to go to law school.”
