‘I miss you already, President T’: El Salvador’s president responds to nickname POTUS gave him

by

President Donald Trump had a successful meeting with El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele, and the two leaders have even coined nicknames for each other.

After leaving the White House on Monday, Bukele posted a social media message on Monday night, writing “I miss you already, President T.” This is after the two men met in the Oval Office and exchanged praises, with Trump declaring that Salvadorans “have one hell of a president.”

The El Salvador leader reacted on X to a White House post that recapped his visit, referring to Trump as “President T” in a nod to the U.S. president’s post last week in which he referred to Bukele as “President B,” which he noted on X with a screenshot of the post.

“President Bukele has graciously accepted into his Nation’s custody some of the most violent alien enemies of the World and, in particular, the United States,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “These barbarians are now in the sole custody of El Salvador, a proud and sovereign Nation, and their future is up to President B and his Government. They will never threaten or menace our Citizens again!”

Bukele also posted a photo of himself with Trump in the Oval Office, with the caption “Friends.”

The El Salvador president impressed Trump with a line about liberating “millions” of people.

“We turned the murder capital of the world—that’s what the journalists called it—into the safest country in the western hemisphere,” Bukele said. “Sometimes they say we imprisoned thousands. I like to say we liberated millions.”

“That’s very good! Who gave him that line? Do you think I can use that?” Trump joked.

“To liberate 350 million people, you have to imprison some,” Bukele noted. “That’s the way it works, right? You can’t just free the criminals and think crime’s going to go down magically. You have to imprison them—so you can liberate 350 million Americans asking for the end of crime and the end of terrorism.”
