Trump says Left-wing groups ‘already under investigation’ for possible part in Kirk’s assassination

by

President Donald J. Trump didn’t mince words Sunday evening as he placed the blame for the tragic death of conservative firebrand Charlie Kirk squarely on the shoulders of radical leftist elements. Speaking to reporters on the tarmac at Morristown Airport in New Jersey, Trump emphasized that the escalating violence from the far-left is not only a growing threat—but already under serious federal scrutiny.

Kirk, the outspoken founder of Turning Point USA and one of the most prominent young conservative voices in America, was brutally gunned down last week during a speaking engagement at Utah Valley University. The assassination sent shockwaves through the conservative movement, reigniting debate over political violence and media bias in America.

While details about the 22-year-old shooter remain scarce, President Trump made it clear that the administration is already pursuing lines of investigation into far-left radicalism.

“The problem is on the left,” Trump declared when asked whether his administration was investigating specific groups. “It’s not on the right like some people like to say. When you look at the agitators, you look at the scum that speaks so badly of our country, the American flag burnings all over the place — that’s the left. That’s not the right.”

The president’s comments were firm and pointed. He highlighted a pattern of hostility toward America from certain factions of the political left, including violent protestors, anti-police demonstrators, and agitators who have glorified violence against conservatives on social media and in the streets.

When a reporter asked if specific left-leaning organizations were being investigated, Trump responded clearly:

“They’re already under investigation. A lot of the people that you would traditionally say are on the left.”

This follows Trump’s previous statements over the weekend, where he vowed to take action not only against domestic agitators but also foreign nationals in the U.S. who celebrated Kirk’s death.

Asked directly whether his administration had started revoking visas of foreign nationals who applauded the assassination of Kirk, Trump replied:

“No, we haven’t, but we are looking at names. We don’t like that, that’s not right. We wouldn’t celebrate if something happened on their side — and we don’t. These are sick people.”

President Trump has long warned about the dangers posed by unchecked left-wing extremism. From Antifa violence to college campus censorship, conservatives have consistently raised the alarm over the escalating war on free speech and conservative values. Kirk, who spent much of his career championing those very principles on America’s campuses, became a tragic martyr in that very fight.

Though formal charges against the gunman are expected to be filed on Tuesday, Trump’s statements indicate a broader effort to hold radical ideologues accountable — both foreign and domestic.

For many on the right, the silence from left-leaning politicians and media outlets has been deafening. There’s been a notable lack of condemnation from Democrat leaders regarding the assassination, further validating the sense that conservative voices face an uphill battle not only in political discourse but also for basic security and justice.

FBI Probing Leftist Ties to Assassination of Charlie Kirk at TPUSA Event

Federal authorities are now investigating potential ties between radical leftist groups and the alleged shooter in the tragic assassination of Turning Point USA (TPUSA) founder Charlie Kirk, according to a source familiar with the matter who spoke with Fox News Digital.

The source revealed that the FBI is actively exploring whether any left-leaning organizations based in Utah had prior knowledge of 22-year-old Tyler Robinson’s alleged plan to kill Kirk or if they offered him any form of support. The individual did not specify which groups are under scrutiny, but the investigation underscores growing concern over politically motivated violence targeting conservative figures.

The shocking nature of Kirk’s death has sent ripples through the conservative movement, sparking a national conversation about the dangers faced by public figures who champion right-leaning principles in increasingly hostile political environments.

The initial breakthrough in the investigation came when Robinson’s own father recognized his son in surveillance footage released by the FBI and turned him in to law enforcement, a source confirmed to Fox News Digital. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody without incident.

Robinson, however, is not cooperating with authorities, according to Utah Governor Spencer Cox, a Republican, who appeared on ABC’s This Week to address the situation.

“He has not confessed to authorities. He is not cooperating, but all the people around him are cooperating. And I think that’s very important,” Gov. Cox stated.

Robinson is currently being held under heightened supervision pending the outcome of a comprehensive mental health evaluation. The Utah County Sheriff’s Department confirmed in a statement that he is under “special watch,” and will not be processed through the standard inmate classification system until he has been medically and psychologically cleared.

“He will continue to be monitored by mental, medical, and custody staff throughout the duration of his stay,” the statement added.

As of this writing, Tyler Robinson remains in custody with charges pending, and the investigation into potential ideological motivations and connections continues.
