Shooting at Dallas ICE facility, sniper dead after hitting multiple victims

by

DALLAS — A brutal sniper assault on a Dallas Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility left at least one migrant dead and several others wounded early Wednesday, before the shooter turned his weapon on himself, according to law enforcement officials. The shocking incident signals heightened dangers facing federal agents and detainees alike.

The attack erupted shortly after 7:00 a.m. Central Time at the ICE detention center in Dallas. Authorities say the confirmed death toll and number of injured remain in flux — WFAA reported that two detainees were killed, while elsewhere local outlets suggested up to four were wounded. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem characterized the scene as one with “multiple victims and fatalities.”

Fox4 sources say three to four others were struck, some critically. Officials believe the shooter, identified by law enforcement sources as a white male, was positioned on the roof of a nearby immigration attorney’s office. He ultimately died of a self‑inflicted gunshot wound as tactical teams closed in.

Authorities have withheld the identities of both the sniper and the wounded. Noem, speaking on X, said investigators are still probing motive.

“While we don’t know motive yet, we know that our ICE law enforcement is facing unprecedented violence against them. It must stop. Please pray for the victims and their families,” Noem wrote.

Photographs and video from the scene show a massive law enforcement mobilization—dozens of vehicles, cordoned streets, and armed personnel sweeping nearby buildings.

Although the shooter struck detainees in ICE custody, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton framed the assault as an attack on all law enforcement. On X, he vowed:

“We will continue to do everything in our power to combat the alarming increase of targeted attacks against ICE and all law enforcement by evil, twisted individuals.”

This is not the first violent incident directed at ICE facilities in Texas in recent months. In August, Bratton Dean Wilkinson, 36, was arrested for threatening to bomb the Dallas ICE processing center. He reportedly brandished what he claimed was a detonator and carried a backpack he stated contained explosives. Wilkinson now faces terroristic threat charges.

Earlier, on July 4, assailants in tactical gear opened fire on another ICE facility in Alvarado. Prosecutors say the attack injured law enforcement and was intended to interrupt operations, resulting in multiple arrests and terrorism charges.

The Dallas facility itself has become a flashpoint. In recent weeks, pro‑immigration protests have frequently targeted the site—putting on display a deeper ideological battle over immigration policy and the rule of law.
