Defeated-looking Pelosi calls Trump a ‘vile creature … worst thing on the face of the Earth’

by

In an interview with Elex Michaelson of CNN in San Francisco, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) looked a little sad and desperate. Speaking ahead of California’s Tuesday vote on Proposition 50, Pelosi issued some of the bluntest hyperbolic public remarks she has yet directed at Donald Trump, calling him “just a vile creature. The worst thing on the face of the Earth.”

Asked directly if she really meant that — yes, she did. “I do, yeah, I do,” she answered.

Pelosi made the remarks in the margin of campaigning for Proposition 50, which if approved would allow the Democratic‐controlled California Legislature to bypass the state’s independent redistricting commission and redraw congressional maps more favorably for Democrats.

She and other prominent Democrats—including Gavin Newsom—support the measure, framing it as a counter‐move in response to Republican efforts, such as the mid‐cycle redistricting by Texas Republicans, that aim to draw congressional districts favorable to their party ahead of the 2026 midterms. The Grievances

Pelosi cited a list of grievances against Trump as the basis for her scathing language:

“Because he’s the President of the United States and he does not honor the Constitution of the United States. In fact, he’s turned the Supreme Court into a rogue court. He’s abolished the House of Representatives. He’s chilled the press. He’s scared people who are in our country legally.”

Pelosi’s comments are undeniably provocative. Whether one agrees or disagrees with Trump’s record, the choice to frame an opponent as the worst thing alive says more about the speaker than the target.
